There's another website that has ads for people looking for caregivers as well as ads from available caregivers... for children and elderly and disabled and so on. It's Babysitters, Nannies, Pet Sitters, Caregivers, Housekeepers & Tutors - Care.com and it says you can review references and background checks. I don't know how that works as I was just browsing it looking for a possible job for myself.

You may be right about the Red Cross. I just know back in NC they asked us after my daughter completed the course if she wanted to be on the list of certifieed babysitters. That may have just been there though.

Glad to hear it worked for you guys! I'm conversing with a candidate right now on there.

Depends on what you're looking for. We pay our high school sitter $7-8 per hour to watch our 15-month-old and 6-year old. I generally see come-to-your house sitters going for $8-10 p/hour, more for each additional kid.

Now-I do inhome, part-time daycare and I charge $20 a day for the preschooler and $25 for the toddler. Most part-time are around $20-30 per day.

Hope that helps! It also depends on what part of town you're in. 'Nannies' go for more an hour.

Thanks, that gives me an idea. I will be looking for someone 10-12 hours a week, no more than 3 hours at one time to look after an infant and toddler. I'll be home the entire time.

Default Babysitter?

Does anyone have a local source for babysitters or have one that they recommend? Feel free to DM me. I need one I can call on regularly, at least once or twice a week, over the remainder of the summer.

Thanks!

M2FB, we've used "Care.com" for housekeepers, and I know they offer babysitters as well. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the folks they had - hopefully, you'll find the same results. Moderator cut: see comment No interest in the company, other than a satisfied customer (and I know of several I've referred there that were pleased as well). It IS a fee-based company - monthly or annual membership required - but we posted an ad, liked what we saw and joined to access the responses, then cancelled the membership w/o hassles or issues - so it cost us a 1-month membership fee to find one of the best housekeepers we've ever had!
