taxes?
Does anyone have a good tax person who is reasonable? I just called one person (a CPA) and they said the charge would be about $500 to get our taxes done! I don't think we want to pay that much. Thanks for any help!

H&R Block is excellent and reputable. They stand by their work and will go to bat for you if the IRS audits you. They do a fantastic job!

Turbo tax is really easy to use if you don't have a complicated return. Heck even if you do, it is easy.
I used it last year for my home business and it walks your through everything.
Otherwise, I would recommend H&R Block.

I like the plan that Huckabee was taughting. The Fair Tax Plan. Get rid of the IRS altogether.

I love the fair tax idea! There is a book out there called The Fair Tax Book by Neal Boortz (who I love to listen to).

I don't mind paying taxes but enough is enough. Every year they want more and more.

Which is why our country is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. And other countries have our people go to their country to help with their tax system. Taxes are not a bad thing. Sure it's no fun paying them, but seriously if the IRS went away it would be a very bad thing for our country.
Back OT, I stand by H&R Block. Turbotax is good too. If you do go with a CPA or accountant, make sure they will represent you in court if you are ever audited. I've known people who try to get it done the cheapest route and the accountant was a family friend or someone they found in the yellow pages that only cost one hundred dollars or so. Just be careful, and don't forget those child tax credits, education credits and so on. I think H&R Block has software now too.

I've used H&R for the last 5 years. Mostly using the online TaxCut program from their website. There are several fee levels based on your needs. You can choose the basic, then upgrade if you feel it necessary. Their tech-support is great and I think you get one free email/chat with a tax professional, too. My returns have ranged from simple income/standard deductions to kid, education, IRA, mortgage, and now a home-based business! Easy peasy!

Hoosier, you might like the Fair Tax plan, it's not taking taxes away at all. You should look into it!
