First of all let me just say I love San Antonio. However, the city needs to do a major overhaul in cleaning up the freeway medians, and shoulders. There is horrible debris on many of our cities major interstates and highways. This is first a hazard, second a major eyesore. When I drive on I35 between 1604 heading into downtown there is horrible looking debris all over the medians and on the shoulders. We need this cleared up. Does San Antonio not have "street sweepers"? Like I'm for real in asking this question. Also can we plant some beautiful trees along the sides of our freeways to make our cities air cleaner and a more beautiful place? I am willing to volunteer to help with this. I just don't know where to start. I know San Antonio is a wonderful place to live, but let's make it look beautiful as well. Not just along the river walk.

Sorry to see that you didn't get any responses. That shows a big part of the problem.

I did a thread on Austin's similar problem. It's largely a Texas problem, and there's little political will lately to do anything about it. That can change if enough people hit these forums and other social media and expose what's going on.

Visitors are noticing that places like Austin and San Antonio are looking really awful.

Adding trees and flowers along the sidewalks is really nice. Has onyone ever seen Michigan Ave in Chicago?

Perhaps some with influence, like Mr. Weston, could initiate a program like that.

What do you want us to say? There are many threads and posts in the San Antonio forum about litter in San Antonio ranging from diapers in parking lots to litter on the side of the roads. Most of us are aware of the problem not just you and a few other people.

Truthfully I think a big part of the litter problem is from outside visitors. Have you ever seen downtown after Fiesta and Niosa? I feel that a lot of litter is left behind by visitors from Mexico.

When I was in Phoenix not long ago I saw that the freeways and access roads had beautiful plants/cactus and colored gravel. We have a few places like that here, but not many. Near the airport I believe. I too have noticed that the
weeds are not even being cut down so visibility is poor! Let's not even mention the shape the actual roads are in....they stay the same year after year needing to be resurfaced. Is there no money for this? I like San Antonio too but I think
it's neglected. Where is the pride? Personally I like to keep my place and my belongings nice and clean and neat.....
