This would have been a nice one to land...SA overlooked again.

Atlanta will host the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in 2018, followed by Santa Clara, California, in 2019 and New Orleans in 2020.
The cities were selected from a group of nine bids to host the title game, including Houston, South Florida, Charlotte, Detroit, Minnesota and San Antonio.

Atlanta, Santa Clara, New Orleans land CFP title games for 2018-20

San Antonio wasn't overlooked, but Atlanta, Santa Clarita are building new stadiums and New Orleans sunk almost 400 million into the superdome. To be one of nine is an small feat for San Antonio. We have a final four coming I believe that's more than enough prestige the CFP would have just been gravy.

It's simple, we lost. End of story. Stop the excuses. 9 cities bid...did all 9 build new stadiums? No.
They must've thought they had a chance or they wouldn't have bid (SA). We lost.

FYI- The stadium in Santa Clara is already done and being used by the 49ers. Got donuts?

..

The cities that won did or put major renovation projects in place. (as did San Antonio but city leaders also said if we were awarded this project we would need more upgrades) How hard is that to comprehend? The final four is nice to have, but this would have been a really nice event to attract.

SA really had no shot with the Alamo Dome and being a small market. Also the national perception of SA is that it is a "basketball town".
