Afterall, they managed to get two of his supposed injuries wrong. Wonder what else they got "accidentally" got wrong.
I work in the ER.
I see lots of wtf police moments. I also see criminals who require a beat down, no question about it. I have seen take downs where the force used was way out of line. I have seen people who needed to be tazed then and there. I have seen cops beat a guy's head against a wall just for TALKING. I have seen cover-ups and I personally have been threatened not to say something about an instance of police brutality.

And if you frequent bars and come home beat up on a regular basis, trusting you, your logic, or your level of maturity regarding the attack and brutalizing of a totally innocent dude would be a waste of time.

This man, the old grandfather out for a walk, the tennis star standing outside a hotel...all getting nailed for no reason. It's wrong, it's sick, and there should be much harsher consequences.

I was thinking of the old grandfather and the tennis star too when I heard about this local incident.

Punishment in those cases was pretty light too although the officer that beat the grandfather is going through a retrial now.

Normally I take up for the officers. With that said, individuals appearing from nowhere running straight at me while I was in broad daylight taking pictures of my wife's office, I would be fighting back against two or three unmarked, apparent thugs.

Let's not let a silly thing like facts get in the way of maintaining the 'blue wall'.

Also reminds me of the incident where Delaine Mathieu's (WOAI-TV) uncle had a diabetic episode on 1604 and was unconscious on the side of the road in his vehicle. Two SAPD officers stopped behind him and proceeded to beat the crap out of him when he wouldn't (and he couldn't) comply with their orders to get out of the vehicle. They got him out, pinned him to the ground, and not until he had broken ribs and contusions on his face did they ask if he was diabetic. McManus brushed it off in an on-camera interview that the officers needed more training on how to handle people having a diabetic episode. I know WOAI agonized over airing the story. The media treads a fine line in their reporting on anything derogatory about the police and losing access to the "inside scoop" needed to be competitive in their reporting. Still, the LEO's I know...I couldn't see them doing something like this, but I believe that there are some that, in their zeal to mete justice, make a routine of crossing the line. Policing is hard and often an ugly business, but there needs to be a daily commitment to maintain the discipline to stay in the right and remain beyond reproach in their conduct. May be hard to do, but if they can't do it, then they shouldn't be in that line of work. A few bad ones really make it hard on the ones who are professionals.

One can only hope that any contact is with the professional not the rogue.

Police can do WHATEVER they want regardless of "the law", because the law will back them up. Always has been this way, always will be.
Police brutality has always been around for decades for this reason.
