I'm with you broseph. I have ATT which is super reliable for me but slow and expensive. I used to have TWC which was fast but was so unreliable I lost my mind. Would be great to have a fast, reliable and affordable alternative. Google can't lay that cable fast enough. Give me a damn shovel and I will help them dig the ditch to my house!

i was so happy when the place i moved too recently was serviced by grande and not time warner. gigabit should be done in this area by the end of the year, so got that coming as well.

ATT has (had?) the best latency when it comes to gaming. hands down, i had a better experience on a 6m/512kb DSL line than ive had on the cable services ive had. Maybe because hardly anyone has DSL anymore, idk, the pings were WAY better.

The same is still true with Uverse, which is really just DSL on steroids, at least in the iteration that uses copper wire like I have. Slow, but very stable and their servers are able to keep up with the traffic which I think accounts for their low latency.

if i hadnt just had another cable line installed at my place... i really should have called ATT and had them install uverse here for my gaming needs. sub-20ms pings to east AND west coast... sigh....

Here is an offer from Google Fiber in Utah Salt Lake City

I don't know how any company here can compete with that I pay 60 dollars TWC for a paltry 2-3mb/sec download speed...

I've been to so many countries with lightning speed internet (and cheaper) compared to ours. Google Fiber is going to change that...just look at those rates.

You should be getting at least 200 Mbps for that amount.

With DSL, each subscriber has a dedicated line from either the central office, or remote terminal, unlike Cable, which may be shared by multiple customers served by a single node.

However, DSL speed and quality deteriorates, the longer the customer's loop distance is from the CO (ADSL), or remote terminal (VDSL).
