Good point. "If you cut our benefits, we're more likely to steal from the public" is probably not on the list of reasons that SAPOA will be citing in their arguments to keep the benefits as they are.

Default Cops Stealing from the public?

The Miami police force and court system and entire Banking system was famously corrupted by the huge flow of drug money during the eighties, this happens. Believe it , or not. Miami blossomed very, very quickly from a sleepy little resort town into an international destination. South Beach is beautiful now.
There is not industry nor any Big business there.

One bank in Miami, Dade County, which normally deposited 12 million with the Federal Reserve for storage annually, suddenly, one year, famously deposited 600 million dollars with the federal reserve. Wonder where all this money came from? Not from the public, decent people do not have this kind of money.
Naivete springs forth always like a spring in the Hill Country during the rainy season. Other impoversihed
cities suffer from this sort of corruption even to this day.
The City of Indianapolis, Indiana, with a beautiful skyline and at one time our "sister city" has had one Kilo of cocaine disappear from their evidence room while Detroit,mi has had many, many kilos disappear from the courthouse evidence room. It was cops.

Was their ever a determination made that the root cause of police corruption in Miami and Indianapolis, was because they received less-than-stellar compensation from those cities?

Default Surely,

Beachfront property is not a labor contract. However if you really want some....I know a guy named Hoffa.
