Yesterday, someone was telling me about a website where you can sign up and save 25-30% on electric bill. Now I can't find the paper I wrote it on!
Has anyone heard of this?
I'd appreciate it if someone could pass on the link.

Could this be what you are looking for? Only thought it might be because the company is out of Austin, Tx.

www.thexpowerenergysaver.com

I wonder if anyone has used it and can confirm the savings?? I also would be interested.

Thanks.
I am going to try to remember to call the electrician who was telling me about it. It was a website that he said was a free program that is not promoted (for obvious reasons!)
He said he signed up and has seen significant savings.
You know if I get it, I will post it for all of us to save!

There was a news letter in with my CPS bill about the Peak Saver Program. They install the programable thermostat so they can shut off the ac for about 10 minutes every half hour during summer afternoons. 1-866-222-7645 or cpsenergy.com. Is this what your talking about?

That program doesn't include a discount. The savings comes from using your AC less.

So this OP got me going to see if there WAS something out there for all of us to save on the electric bill. Having found the site that I posted above, thought maybe that was the item the OP was referring to.

Anyway, did some research and here is a question/answer response from a guy that is suppose to be THE electric info expert. Found it quite strange that this item for sale (listed above) and HE, the expert are BOTH LIVING IN AUSTIN, TX. Somehow I can't help but feel if this $280 gadget were legit that this guy living in the same town (hey, Austin ain't THAT big) would have heard of each other and gotten together to promote it.....guess I'll save my $280.

This can be found on:
Saving Electricity: How to Save Electricity

There are energy saving devices in the market that promise up to 15% savings on your electric bill. You simply plug it into any wall outlet. Do such devices really work? One such device is at: http://minisunpower.1tuition.com (broken link). -- Fernand, Pasay City, Philippines, Jan. 2005

How many dead giveaways do you need? The obvious one is that if any such device worked I would list it here. Does it make sense to you that I would create this mega website about saving electricity but somehow decide not to mention a device that saves energy by simply plugging it into the wall?
The other thing that should jump out off the page at you is that their website has zero technical information about how their product supposedly works. In fact, in their FAQ section they have this:

Q: Is there any prove to show us that this device 100 percent can help us reduce our electrical bill?
A: Yes, we have a test report carried out by PSB(Singapore) which we will show to u.

Hello? If they have such a report why isn't it published on their website? And why are they writing like they're some teenager on MySpace?

Finally, does it not ring any bells at all that they don't even have their own domain name? This supposedly legitimate company is sponging an address off 1tuition.com.

I went ahead and wrote to them requesting a unit to review and not surprisingly they refused to send one. If a company that sells an alleged electricity saver doesn't want the #1 site in Google for "saving electricity" and "how to save electricity" to review their product then that alone ought to tell you something.

Other devices I'm skeptical of are EnergySmart's Power Planner, reviewed on the refrigerators page, and TVSS (surge suppressors) which purportedly save electricity, reviewed on the commercial buildings page. In short, I've never seen any device that you can simply plug in that will save any appreciable amount of electricity.

Please don't write every time you run across some device that claims that it does. If you want to get the manufacturer to send me a sample to test then I'll check it out, but most manufacturers won't bother because they know that once I discover their device doesn't work I'll say so on this website. But you can ask them to send a unit to review to Ask Mr. Electricity, Michael Bluejay, PO Box 8600, Austin, TX 78713-8600. I'm unimpressed by anything other than an actual unit to test. If I can't see for myself that it works, I'm unlikely to believe that it actually does.

Default How to Save Electricity

You have asked quite a different question
But I don't think there is any website where you will save money just by logging in.
So, in this case, I am of the opinion that you should use a device called Ohm Assistant
I think you should see it once, it is a device that will help reduce your power consumption.
The special thing is that it will show you how much electricity your household appliances are consuming in real-time. I think it will help you to save money and electricity.

Right. Eliminate all your power vampires, buy only electricity saving appliance, change all bulbs to LED, insulate your home properly, raise your A/C and lower your heater temps by 2°, and turn off light when leaving a room and you surely will see significant savings.
Other than that, I don't believe in magic...
