49 Olds is on a distinguished road
gy2020- I lived in in San Marcos from 1966-1969 attending (SWTSTC) (I think it was still called a teachers college) and commuted from San Antonio in 1970 to Southwest Texas State University (Name changed). I lived in the La Chateaux apartments which was the newest complex with a nice swimming pool. We paid $120 for a single bedroom plus electric and phone, which meant you shared with a roomate.
The complex was one block from the old gym and we walked to class with the white tail deer bounding off the cliff onto the road which happened every day.
I returned to San Marcos in 1977 to look around and things were a little different.
I returned in 2001 and could not recognize anything but Ol Main. The La Chateaux is now a dump and the hodgepodge construction of the University is a joke. We use to set drop lines for catfish on school property that butted Aquarina Springs. 17 lbs. was the largest we caught and BBQ'd. A couple of years before I attended SWT, the Springs had stopped the school kids from swimming because a politicians wife was mooned in a glass bottomed boat.

Oh, I was at Edge Falls in 1957 with a group of kids. Judy Y., Tommy Stella H., Jon S., my brother and me. There was a heavy set woman (35-40) that took the money. We drove up to the house and I think she opened a window or door. It seems like it was $1 or $2 a car load. We did not jump off the cliff, but we used the rope swing, and walked under the ledge. I saw a swing in the picture. There were no other people there that day. Brought back memories.
Great pictures of all the cities.

Hey 49, I had an interesting experience at Edge Falls. I had a girl I dated a few times that I took to Edge Falls. She was a brave one. She decided to jump off the high cliff, but slipped instead and she hit the water with both legs splayed out. She hurt the rest of the evening. Put a real crimp in the rest on the date.

This is not exactly Boerne, but these pics were shot in a restaurant in Boerne. Back in December, 1995 my business (Direct to Hollywood) held a Christmas Party in Boerne. It was held the same day that Planet Hollywood held its grand opening party. I had been working with actor John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard). While all the movie stars were on the Riverwalk at Planet Hollywood, sheltered in their Pink Room, separated from the media and Texas Politicians who were at the opening, but not allowed in the Pink Room, John Schneider attended our party and he and his lovely wife mingled with everyone as you can tell by these photos. We also had some of our advertisers in attendance. These people had major companies in Dallas which worked with studios. We also had a local producer, Paul Adair and his crew and actors in attendance. Everyone had a great time. Enough bs, here are the photos:

No new photos to add, I just wanted to keep this on front page. I am going to Wimberley on Saturday morning. I should have about 100 photos of the place. My grandmother lived in Wimberley until she was married in 1885. Her father and grandfather date back to Texas revolution and received land grants in the Katy area. They sold that property and purchase over 100 acres in the Wimberley area. I understand that there property is now owned by Texas State University.

I fibbed about no new photos, these were pictures of grandmothers property in Wimberley.

Well I was originally going to take pictures of Wimberley on Saturday, but it looks like it will be Sunday before I get there.

Ryneone-Amazing pictures. I grew up in Seguin for a while. Do you have any of New Berlin?
Well, Ryneone, you requested and it is so...
But I have to tell you of my adventures today. In all my 65 years, I had not ventured south of I-10, except Lake Placid and Seguin. Now I have traveled to the border and all through soouth Texas just not into soouth Guadalupe or SE Bexar County. I was bored sitting at home so I set out for New Berlin. I started on the wrong foot by driving down 725 instead of 775 and I wound up in south Seguin where 46 merges with 123. I turned around, following my trusty Mapquest, and i ventured on a road that said something school street but it looked like the right direction and sure enough I merged with 775. But then I found 775 under construction, in the rain, with mud caliche road. I was afraid I might get stuck. well, my truck was dirty and needed cleaning, but you should see it now.

On with the story. As I was driving down the road, a sign said New Berlin, but all I saw was farm houses and muddy roads:

Finally I wized up and stopped a car on the road and asked directions. I told him I was fulfilling a request to photograph New Berlin for a person on the net. He pointed me in the right direction, so here are your pics of New Berlin:
