I won't hold my breath for a new CM. BTW, on 1604 and Bandera - they knocked down the old gas station and are putting in a new one with what looks like a convenience store. Is that a new type for HEB?

The land they bought is near where De Zavala turns into Babcock.

Well it says right there in the link you posted, that they have no plans to build anything there.
Would be a bad place for any store, especially a CM.

CM is not what it used to be when they first opened, and I don't go there anymore. Lots of great, imported food got discontinued. Non-food area took a big part of the store. For that I can shop somewhere else.
Alon is great, and so are HEB Plus stores. CM offers just overpriced stuff for snobs, IMHO.

What non food items have taken over? They really only serve food or wine. The phrase about snobs speaks volumes.

It's a big convenience store, I heard. Does any other location have an actual full-fledged HEB convenience store? Personally, I never heard of one!

elnia has a point about the Broadway CM but it's common in the other HEB stores. They start with some interesting high end products then drop them.

An example is the take out. Much space is taken over by trays of multicolored goo. Once in awhile CM will have an interesting entree but the plus stores have old fried standards and goo.

BTW, Whole Foods take out is the same. Used to have lots of entrees and now are quite repetitive.

Although it is not branded as a Central Market, doesn't the Alon HEB at NW Military & Wurzbach Parkway incorporate some of the Central Market elements?
That may be the direction of the newer stores. New Seguin store has CM features.
