San Antonio is pretty much the worst place to find any of your favorite foods except for Tex Mex and barbecue and even then it's never the best city to find any sort of meal, according to a new ranking.
Real estate site Estately scoured Yelp data in America's 50 largest cities to come up with the best and worst places to find pizza, donuts, breakfast, burgers and more.
While San Antonio isn't on any of the best lists, it is the No. 1 worst place in the country if you are looking for Japanese food, according to Estately.

Not been my experience. I might put more weigh in the list if was not based on Yelp. That and my domestic travels.

Depends on people's palate, but I do agree with OP. I don't need any kind of rankings to know that's very true.

I've been happy with the two places I've found for Chinese food. Is it as good as China Town in Los Angeles ? No, but it's still good. So, that list is wrong

I can't be happy with just two places in a big city. Sorry...

I agree with the OP as well. San Antonio is the worse for Japanese food. There are a couple of places that serve up somewhat authentic food with Nikki's Tokyo Inn being the most authentic (IMO) but that is it.

If you love taquerias or Jason Dady style pet projects, then this is the town for you.

Btw...I am in Japan right now and it is so nice to walk out of my hotel and have so many eating options all on the same block but I do admit I am really missing Tex Mex food and I can't get that here.

I'm glad that there is a burgeoning food scene here because moving here nearly 5 years ago I full heartedly agreed with you. Truth be told Austin isn't much better. I think there are some more options but still the majority you find in south Texas is a LOT of Tex-Mex and BBQ.

I gladly support good eateries though. One of my favorite Pakistani Food Trucks Rickshaw recently closed so I will have to look at other options. Pasha is OK but not quite what i like.

One more thing about the growing food here I will say that it is a lot of New American so to speak and some Southern (but not what you'd find in the DEEP South). I'd like to see more exotic foods here though!

Pancho-Villa,

Since I despise Japanese food, I cannot speak knowledgably about that but there are several GREAT places for Thai food in Bexar County.

One of the very few things that I miss about Baltimore, DC & NOVA (where I was stationed for years) is the absence of good Malaysian & Indonesian food, "Mediterranean bakeries" and really great fresh seafood.

just my OPINIONS, tex

Satx..... Having lived in that region as well I know about the dearth of seafood options near SAT. Best options I've found so far to be similar are Reel Seafood in New Braunfels or Truluck's in Austin.

That list has Atlanta as the #1 Tex-Mex city in the country and San Antonio is not even mentioned. That says it all to me.
