What's a good temporary cover for house windows broken by the hail Tuesday night? (e.g. how to attach plastic sheeting to the window frame snugly).
More than half the houses around me have 2 or more more broken windows. This is in NE corner of town. Damage was on west side of houses.
Does home owners insurance cover much here? Thanks.

Open-peril policies provide coverage for any cause not specifically excluded from the policy, while named-risk policies only provide coverage for causes listed in your policy. So, if your window broke in a hailstorm, it’ll be covered by both types of policies, perhaps minus your deductible.
When it comes to auto insurance protection from hail, you'll need comprehensive coverage, which covers weather damage (usually optional)

For the windows you can use a cut to size clear sheets of acrylic plastic/plexiglass (Lowes, HD), or go cheaper with plywood.

Call your insurance tomorrow morning. Remember to save all receipts for what you spend so you can submit them to your insurance company for reimbursement.

To attach plastic sheeting snugly, I'd probably use a staple gun. I don't think that would keep rain out though, so you'll probably want to figure out something better or get the windows replaced before the weekend, when we're due for more rain.
