Good Morning,
I am new to the area. I have found a job over off I 10 and Dezavala. I live off 281 and Evans. Is there any way to get there other than 1604-I10? From what I've seen, that can be a parking lot at 8am.
Thanks!

Sure. Take Evans to Stone Oak Parkway. Stone Oak Pky to Heubner, Heubner to NW Military, NW Military to DeZavala. Your going to have to deal with a bunch of school zones, and driving through Shavano Park, but will not have to deal with 1604

My co-worker lives in Trinity off 281 and we work at I10/410W. He doesn't complain too much about the 281/410 route but also used to commute 1.5 hours each way to D.C. so he might just be a masochist.

Is Wurzbach Pkwy an option? Another co-worker who lives in Schertz say that has become a sanity saver for him.

What side of I-10 is your work? East or west side?

Driving 1604 West in the morning or 5pm traffic isn't nearly as bad as 1604 eastbound. Give it a try before you decide to experiment with ways to bypass 1604 and drive through several lights and school zones. Once you hit merge onto I-10 from 1604, it's a breeze. This is from my observation driving between 1604 & hausman to 1604 & huebner every day. Traffic headed 1604 westbound seems to flow pretty well. Use google maps to determine your route since it shows how traffic is in real-time.

What you don't want to do is drive West down the stretch of dezavala between Clark HS/Vance Jackson and I-10. Huebner is even worse.

Take Evans to Bulverde. Bulverde all the way to Wuzbach Pkwy. WP to 10. West on 10 to DeZavala. Or if you're closer to 281 just take 281 S to WP.

My husband drives from Bulverde Rd to the 1604/10 area and unless there is an accident, it's about a 30 minute commute. You may just want to stick with that. There's going to be traffic on either route.

Avoiding highways from that direction will actually add time to your drive. I've don it from de zavala to the Evans area and it's a hurry up and wait situation. Unless you're driving in off peak hours there's no easy way around that traffic.

1604 West to I-10 to Dezavala is going to be your fastest route. If you take the 281 to Wurzbach Pkwy route you're looking at an extra 10-15 mins and it's a longer distance. But don't take our word for it...

It just gets really hairy at the interchange. You could very well add a few minutes to the 1604/10 route depending on the time of morning. Best thing is to give yourself plenty of time in the morning and maybe try both routes to compare.

Empirical test - Stone Oak to Huebner, Huebner to 1604 access road - access road to Vance Jackson and down to DeZavala. This depends on how that short stretch of access road works out.
