The title should say San Antonio College. Sorry.

Despite what another poster has said in the past, I personally know several people who have gone to through the SAC academy between the years of 2011 and 2015. They all told me that there is no PT in the academy other than the occasional punishment of push-ups for doing something wrong. They now have a physical agility test. For men, it is harder than AACOG's. For women, it is easier than AACOG's. Their standards are similar to what's required by Bexar County. So, there will be no more men choosing SAC over AACOG just because the physical standards are easier. The women don't really have anything to worry about. I wonder how this is going to affect their numbers because I've seen a lot of out of shape people graduate from their academy.

I bet they put these standards in place because they had a lot of graduates who could not pass the physical agility tests of the local police departments. I worked with a recent graduate who only applied at departments with no physical agility test because he couldn't run the mile and a half. Another recent graduate tried the obstacle course at UTSA and broke his hand falling off the 4-foot fence.

Have you seen many of the SAPD? They're gigantic. If it weren't for Motorola, they couldn't catch a cold.

They get that way after graduating from the academy because there are no annual standards. I believe annual testing has been proposed at BCSO and SAPD, but the unions have successfully fought off any attempts.

Even if you you're already certified, you have to go through the SAPD academy. That is not an easy academy. It wasn't until recently that they started offering a shorter academy for experienced police officers, but they still have to pass their physical agility test and do PT during the modified academy.
