Does anyone have any information about a amusement park that was located by the river across the street from the old Mission stadium ball park. I remember seeing some amusement rides lying in tall grass as I drove over the river on highway 90 headed east. My wife said it was called riverside but I have never been able to find any information on it.

Started by a man who earlier partnered with the owner to be of Playland Park. It's been discussed in GBNF "Gone but not Forgotten" threads. Mud.

You made my day mud, that is exactly what I had been looking for, I wonder if any photos exist of the park? As for it being mentioned before I was not aware of it and I even contacted a person at the Express News paper who use to dig up information on submissions like this one, they could not find anything. As for Playland Park, there was a book written about it's history and I read it but it never made any mention of the River View park.

Great info Mud! St Louis Street is in the middle of the west side. This gives a slightly different version than we've talked about before. I thought Johnson and the shady guy started a park together just across Broadway from the future "Playland Park". Then they split and Johnson created the popular Playland Park and Obadal went south with his River View Park. From this info it looks as thought the partners at least started a couple ventures together then split. Either case it seems that Obadal's park was troublesome to say the least while Johnson's flourished.

It almost seems like I've seen the rides operating at River View. My memory isn't that good. I do remember seeing it for many years after attending Mission Stadium games. I've been on the property at least a couple times and seen remnants of the rides. Been in the house that sat back in the property also many years ago.

Great info as always Mud! Thanks for sharing it!
