Stone Oak already going "ghetto"
So according to WOAI, a major drug bust went down in the Bluffs at Lookout canyon. Police have seized $18,000 worth of cocaine, six guns, and $50,000 cash hidden in a safe. It just a matter of time before the drive bys start out there, honestly.
On this board, stone oak is held up as the end all be all, where everyone strives to live. Where everyone is anglo and no crime happens. This maybe one incident, but I have a feeling that it's just the start. This wasn't a small time guy.

I'm sorry, is the entire community run by one gang? Or is it just a case of one bad seed in there? It's never pleasant to hear that something like that happens there (or anywhere) but I wouldn't be so quick to say that Stone Oak is the ghetto because of one person.

The Bluffs at Lookout Canyon isn't even in Stone Oak. It's in Lookout Canyon which isn't even in the same zip code as Stone Oak.

Stone oak is no way near close to ghetto. Just cause on random incident happen doesn't make a area "ghetto." It can become a ghetto if the flow of money keeps going north or moves somewhere else but no place can become a ghetto until it becomes forgotten land and is left to rot, but that can take years. an example is Compton, cause in the 50's or so it was an established suburb but now it's considered a ghetto.

Firstly, this didn't even take place in Stone Oak. Secondly, I saw the news video. The guy was living in a really nice house, with really nice cars and his neighbors were shocked when he was arrested for what he was arrested for. Meaning he was doing a good job fitting the part of normal upper middle class citizen even though he was a big time drug dealer. Do you think San Antonio is the first city in the world to have drug dealers living in wealthy or just upper middle lass neighborhoods? Finally, how does even qualify the Bluffs at Lookout Canyon as a ghetto? Because it was a drug bust? Do you even know what a ghetto is? This incident doesn't come even remotely close to the defintion of the word let alone anyones preconceived notion of what a ghetto is. Do you know how many rich and wealthy teens/young adults living in upscale gated communities all across the country sell drugs? Lots.
This thread was unnecessary and seems like you over-sensationalized and generalized a simple story and even threw in Stone Oaks name for no reason other than to slander it.
I for one vote to have this thread closed and removed for the site.

Drug dealers live EVERYWHERE... Let's face it.
Secondly, Lookout Canyon isn't Stone Oak. Not even in the same zip code. It's akin to saying Canyon Springs is in Stone Oak: It's not.
Just because someone drives a Bentley and lives in 4,000 sq ft doesn't mean he's anywhere near upper-middle class. I've known plenty of trashy people with money that allow them to live far beyond their class lines. Anywhere you go in San Antonio (or in life), this happens on a routine basis.
In a nutshell: I'm not shocked this happened and I expect it to happen more frequently. I live in Stone Oak (have for years) and have been watching the transition of apartments being built and a mix of people coming in. Diversity is a good thing, but with it come a few bad apples.
That's life

My family and I were on the way to look at our house that is STILL being built. We are in the Canyon Springs part. I saw two helicopters circling with their search lights, now I know why.

Oh my word. You don't think that drug dealers and criminals live all over this city? In the Dominion? In Westcreek? In Alamo Heights?
Give me a break.
