West Elm would make Storehouse look like Lacks. There are only two locations in Texas, one in Dallas and one in Houston.
The developer is Embrey.

Cru & West Elm
Cru-A Wine Bar, is a terrific place to go with friends and to try different wines in a relaxed atmosphere. The food is pretty good too. I think it'll be a great addition to The Quarry area.

West Elm is a part of the Williams-Sonoma family and has contemporary furniture. Storehouse really doesn't compare to this, as 210 alluded to above.

Saw some plans recently, nice enough and very pricey. They'll start over $500k, and likely average $500++/ft. Services being offered are cool too, but it's still not an oasis, and still a big question as to whether retail, services, food will rush in to make it a hot intersection.

I've been watching this redo, and visted a few times to see whether they're dressing it up or really going to the bones and making it more sound. Answer is "yes," they're doing both based on structural engineer's assessment. I'm going to have my own inspection done as well, but for the price, and the upgrades they're offering, this one is very liveable, especially if you want the whole Quarry thing (which I do).
I've seen rehabs in Dallas and Houston where the new owner bought crap, pasted on more crap and tried to run the numbers way up. I don't see that here.

I have to disagree, I've spent the last year, in between buying a new place, at the Quarry Townhomes, and the new models have left me less than impressed. Personally, I've had nothing but problems here, i.e. water leaks, haywire electrical issues, thin walls, etc. - really, really cheap construction, and that can't be fixed with new cabinetry and repainted garage doors. Just my two cents.

If so, I would skip it, the place is SO poorly built, and I've never seen a development so utterly jinxed by plumbing problems, faulty wiring, etc. Yeah, they'll slap on some new paint, do some basic cosmetic work before they sell 'em off, but ultimately it'll just fall to pieces like all the other slapped-together apartment jobs - plus the Quarry Market is slowly going downscale IMHO. I mean, I still shop the anchor stores: Borders, Whole Woods, Starbucks, the Quarry Theater, etc., but I've noticed a very obvious decline in the last few years. I think La Cascada and the Stone Oak area in general have taken a LOT of the business away, it's simply not the only game in town anymore. My two cents, I'm sure many will disagree.

Re: googie2525's statement on the Quarry Townhomes...
I'd like to reply on behalf of the (NEW) Quarry Townhomes management. I cannot let these misstatements of fact go unchallenged. The fact is that the Quarry Townhomes property is the most recent construction of any condo property of significant scale in Lincoln / Alamo Heights (built in 2001). We are very proud of our product, and we gladly share our independent engineering reports with our buyers and potential clients. To make a sweeping, unfounded statement that the units are "poorly built"... is irresponsible. One wonders if googie is a stakeholder in another condo project. In any event, I invite the audience here to stop by and judge for themselves.

Respectfully, QT, I have to agree with googie. I've known googie through this forum and as a neighbor for quite sometime. In his defense, he has no stake in another condo. Making such an assumption is not flattering as a representative of the "new management". I lived IN the QT when they were "apartments townhomes" and remained during the remodel of some of of the new units. I watched up close and personal and there was absolutely nothing done to improve accoustics, install energy efficient windows, or increase the insulation between units. There is also NO firewall between each unit. With the new "wood floors" the noise factor was even worse when hearing someone walking nextdoor. I saw absolutely NO improvement in the quality of construction. These units simply got a facelift.
I'm sure you are proud of the "look" of your new community, but at an average of $275 to $300 a square foot, that "look" doesn't effect the original apartment grade construction. Providing engineering reports will not do anything other that show that the property is "liveable"....it doesn't show the "value" in the construction. "Newer" construction standards in apartment communities is notoriously substandard than the older apartment communities that were once considered "upscale". That doesn't mean its a probable "tear down", it just means that builders/developers are smarter about cutting corners during the construction stage.
Regardless, I wish you well with your new residents.

Penthouse pricing seems to be in the $400/SF range or more for Vidorra and Altezza (Hyatt). La cascada is probably in the $350 to $400/sf range but the units are almost 3,000 SF. St. Benedict's on S. Alamo in King William and some of the projects on S. Flores are as affordable as it gets, $160 to $180k and up. St. Benedict's is designed to be a community integrated deal. Central Market is really only 8-10 min up Broadway, about half of what it takes to get out of Stone Oak and through the 281/1604 intersection. hah.
