New Highrise Condo for Alamo Heights area.
The Broadway San Antonio will be built at the former site of Earl Abels at Hildebrand Ave. and Broadway.
This is just the beginning of highrise living along Broadway. Within the next 5-7 years there will be many highrises along Broadway between Downtown and just before Alamo Heights.

Is this what they will look like? Residents of Alamo Heights are very concerned about the architectural integrity of their buildings...and from my understanding there is something about the height of buildings in this area...
I live in Alamo Heights because it is such a charming area...
They are also supposedly going to tear down the Sunset Ridge Apartments and put condos up there also...

This tower isn't tech. in Alamo Heights, it's just south of Alamo Heights at the intersection of Hildebrand Ave. and Broadway.

Interesting, thanks 210. You do have access to some really cool photos. Do you have any photos (or description) of the areas they will be tearing down to make room for this string of new highrises? Will any of this coincide with that rumored extension of the Riverwalk?

Looks like another boring office building to me. They should've hired Lake/Flato and did something a little more interesting. But, I suppose it beats that monumental eyesore downtown known as La Cascada. Ugh!
Oh yeah, here's the link, not much at this point: http://thebroadwaysanantonio.com/
I have friends in Mahnke Park who are livid over this ginromous buidling that will have them living in a giant shadow, literally, forevermore. But yeah, eventually I think Broadway will be quite swanky, helped in part by projects like the much-touted Pearl Brewery renovation and the inevitable high-rises and such. The area has been overlooked for so long, and it's terrifically centrally-located. If I were a hot shot real estate investor, I would buy up a bunch of those ghetto tenemant apartments and junky cafes in the Army Terrace Additio area, then sell 'em to Red McCombs for a monstrous profit in a few years when he decides to tear that area down too
And yes, they're going to tear down the Sunset Ridge apartments and rebuild them, bigger and badder evidentally. I can't complain about that one though, since I own a business in the Sunset Ridge shopping center and I don't mind a few thousand more potential customers living behind me. How selfish of me!

Even though I like the Sunset Ridge apartments...I suppose I can deal with them being torn down but I just don't want some cookie cutter typical condo built there...I want them to be charming and to blend in w/ Alamo Heights. I own a condo in Barcelona so if anything I think it will increase the property value.
If you don't mind me asking, what business do you own in Sunset Ridge. You don't have to answer of course if you don't want to.

I'm pretty sure the "new and improved" Sunset Ridge is going to be rental apartments and not condos, and from what I've heard, they're going to look fairly similar in design, just 3 stories instead of 2 and packed denser. I can't recall how many more units will be added, but it seemed like a huge increase. Oh yeah, I own the Baskin Robbins, been there for 39 years (not me, the business that is, it's 5 years older than me ), we're the oldest tenant in the strip.

I'm trying to get some pictures, but there will also be a highrise on Hildebrand Ave. across from Trinity University and Alamo Stadium.
Right across from the white apartment highrise.

Are all the apartment buildings at Sunset Ridge being torn down? If so, that's about 40 buildings.

This is the site (facing north) of the soon to be "Broadway San Antonio" highrise.
Another angle (facing south) of the site:
This is the site of a future highrise, the one across from Alamo Stadium and Trinity University.
