I remember running up and down a wheelchair access aisle when I was little at the one in the Colonade. It was further down close to Shanedoah.

All this talk of old San Antonio bookstores but renews again the psychological and emotional scarring on my young psyche of not having had a bookstore , when I was a very young San Antonian southsider. I receive counseling to this day about not having a brick and mortar store but years later still- the wounds remain fresh over not having a bookstore nearby. The sense of deprivation is well beyond the telling of it. Talking does no good. I was defrauded as a youngster and may never recover.
I will probably take this condition unto the grave. No Traders Joe nearby merely exacerbates this emotional condition the professionals say. Such is life.
Someday..............

I worked at the Book Stop off I-10 and the Colonnade back in the mid 80s while in college. It used to be the Shenandoah Skating Rink so every time I saw the wood floors in there, I imagined having on my roller skates again and tooling around between the aisles. I believe it's now the John Williams Interiors outlet.

The address of the former Bookstop at the Colonnade, was 9985 IH 10 W, which today is that of The Egg And I.
