Anyone had experience or know of someone who has had experience with any of the places in the area that sell manufactured homes?

A friend of mine worked at Mobile Homes Direct For Less before he died. He told me that they are a Christian based company and they don't play games. Another bud has a mobile home sales but all he knows is how to play games. I would suggest the first one. You'll find the Patriot and Fleetwood to be like a Ford or Chevy in that they are an average built home. The Schult is like a Mercury or Oldsmobile in that it's a better built home using better materials. The homes from MH Direct carry full factory warranty. The only thing is that you need to watch what options you get. Always go for the energy savings things like insulation, etc. I would not upgrade the carpet as it won't last as long as the payment. If it's an option, upgrade the tubs to enameled iron. Fiberglas tubs are a short life tub. OSB for sub floor is more desirable than any particle board. Just be careful what anybody tries to sell you like a deck. The home should come with steps front and back. You can do the deck later as you have the money. I would suggest getting the skirting and if it's a permanent residence, get a slab under it You can always use the slab under the home for storage as long as you keep it off of the concrete. Old wood pallets work great for this. Considering that this is the end of the year, many of the homes sitting on the lots will be heavily discounted to move them out for tax reasons and make room for the new models. Might inquire about those too. I wouldn't be afraid to make an offer on one if it fits your needs.

We bought one many years ago. We would never do it again. Contractors take advantage of you, doors, vent tub fixtures are not all compatible with regular homes. Banks won't loan money for remodel...
