30ish Latino Gay Guy moving to San Antonio
Hello all.. I might be moving to Your beautiful city sometime this summer and am wondering about the gay scene there. I visited in September with a few family members but did not get to check out the gay night life. Is there even one? Any info or insight would be helpful... areas to visit, night clubs, restaurants, coffee houses, neighborhoods...
I come from Denver where there really isn't a Gay neighborhood, but a gay friendly area, Capitol Hill. Is San Antonio the same way?
And for all you Gay Transplants, how is the city treating you?
Thanks!!

There is a club scene. There are at least two clubs, but I can only remember the name of one, the Bonham. It's huge, 3 or 4 stories, and packed every night... hundreds of people. Cheap drinks... reminds me of that movie, Night at the Roxbury, only gay :-)

Do a search for "30 yo gay guy" and you'll come up with a recent very long thread.
The 2nd club is The Saint. I am sure there are more.

I think there's 14 gay clubs/bars most located in the downtown area and concentrated on N.Main. Also, a new gay strip club called Encounters just opened on the NE side of S.A. With that being said, there's plenty of gay people in S.A.

The Bonham Exchange is not packed with hundreds of people every night of the week. Most weeknights there are only a few people in there. Weekends are crowded.

It's got the pro and con of being openly gay and living in San Antonio... Just keep in mind that enjoying the 'alternative' scene in SA is so much more than just knowing where the bars are.

For the original posters question, the other thread pretty much covers it....

Try running your ad on 94.1 KTFM. They're owned by BMP and seem to be much more open minded. I've heard ads for Bermuda Triangle and Electric Company. And broadcast live from the Bonham Exchange on Saturday's.
