Hello

I too remember the old Christie's off Broadway in San Antonio. It was my favorite seafood restaurant - mainly because of the 1000 Island salad dressing (House) dressing that they used to serve.

I am in Houston right now, and had inquired about the Christie's off Westheimer. Not the same...at all. On their menu they have a Q & A about Christie's history. One question was, "Is this the same as the old Christie's seafood restaurant in San Antonio?" The answer, "No."

I tried the Houston locations 1000 Island dressing, and it was just like a commercial brand. The food was ok, and prices were a little steep.

There will never be another Christie's off Broadway.

Yes I remember Stone Bull. On our Friday and Saturday drinking and driving nights we would always drive out to the old place if there was nothing else to do or we got thrown out of San Pedro drive in.

Sombrera Rosa was so much better than Taco Cabana. And TC has gone downhill even more in the years since it overtook all the SR's.

Taco Cabana is over expensive and crappy food, they closed the location on Wurzbach that was a sombrero rosa. I think more stores will close.

I remember Tacasita - it was on Wurzbach and Bandera. Originally it was the 2nd Taco Cabana (first one was San Pedro and Hildebrand and I believe it is still there).

I agree TC is going down hill. I do not eat there unless it is the only thing around.

This is going to sound strange, but one thing that I really miss is the old style pharmacies. Walgreen's, Eckerd's (CVC). When the buildings were smaller and everything wasn't so open. I guess Walgreen's is still like that. But I hate CVC, with their huge layouts and open environment. They (Eckerd's) used to be better than Walgreen's.

Walgreen's rules!

Yes since the Stehlings dont own TC anymore they have declined. We have a new one here in Arlington, TX. It is pretty good, but the manager indicated to my wife the other day that he works over 60 hours every week. I used to work for Felix and Mike Stehling and they offered me the 2nd TC to manage back in 1979. They bought an old Royal Burger store on WWWhite.
FROM THE TACO CABANA WEB SITE.
Taco Cabana is owned by Carrols Corporation of Syracuse, N.Y., one of the largest restaurant companies in the U.S., owns, operates and franchises more than 540 restaurants under the Burger King®, Pollo Tropical®, Taco Cabana® brands.
