Default First Whataburger in SA

The original question was where was the First Whataburger in SAN ANTONIO?
My parents say they just always rememebered the "A Frame" buildings being around various locations, but they were always fans of Whopperburger.

I just got an update on the first Whataburger in San Antonio. It was located at 5800 San Pedro, just a little way from the current location. According to Whataburgers locator page, the San Pedro location is Whataburger #5.

The first ever Whataburger location was near the intersection of Baldwin and Ayers in Corpus Christi. It's no longer a Whataburger. The Del Mar College Bookstore sits on the property that was once home to Whataburger #1.

I was able to get this data from Whataburger's customer relations unit, courtesy of Darcy Jones. Thanks Darcy!

Anyone remember Victoria Dalton? The 12 year old who killed the siblings she was made to babysit? Cary Clack of the Express News wrote a great piece on her when she was released from TYC. That case was one of the saddest in SA history. Just wondering if anyone remembers that?

Not sure on the first one but I remember I loved eating at the one across from where Play Land Park was at.

Default First Whataburger

Great find on the first Whataburger. This is the A frame one near the intersection of Basse. Got me thinking of where are the remaining A-Frame Whataburger buildings are/were?

- Callaghan between Babcock and 410
- Broadway just inside 410 (near Rebar and where Dunkin Dounuts was).

There's one on Goliad Rd. just north of Hot Wells Blvd. It's a Poplar Bakery now.

I hope this hasn't been discussed before, but is McAllister Park what we once called "The Preserves" in the early '80's?

Yep, same place. Back when it was called the Preserves it was a great place to hang out on Sundays. Young people from all over town would go out in the afternoon and drink a few beers, throw frizbees and just relax. The cops put an end to it back in the late 70's or early 80's.

That brings to mind another great hang out spot from the past that I haven't seen mentioned hear yet. Back in the late 60's to early 70's Sunken Garden used to be the premere place for the Hippie generation to meet on a nightly basis. Anybody here remember those days?
