Well everyone, with great help from Primo, I have been able to to reconstruct the entire history of Wolfe's Inn. I will post it here probably tomorrow night, since its going to take me awhile to organized all the info and write it up in any way that is somewhat presentable.

I could not resist posting this image tonight.
This is from 1948
In 1963, it was sold and converted to a golf course and resort. The same designer who designed the Oak Hills golf course designed the course at Algo Diferente. That is the old abandoned golf course we all remember from our youth who grew up in that area.

Thanks for all the great memories and fotos. Can anyone remember hanging out at the old Gillispie Ranch, behind what is now SACU and The Blood Bank off of I-10 and Vance Jackson. We use to spend a Friday or Saturday after football games hanging out at this abadoned site. Lots of fun.

No, but I remember the mansion at Calaghan and I-10, where Loew's is now, that I believe was the Gillespe Mansion. Maybe the Mansion sat at the far north end of the Gillespe Ranch, if it really was that big. That would mean the old Wonderland Mall would have been built on the old Gillespe ranch site.
It might be fun trying to research it. Me, after Wolfe's Inn and Algo Differente, I think I need to take a break.

I remember that we used to party in that area you are talking about. We would take off the access road from I-10 over the curb where there were some road tracks that led to an open area in the woods. We called it "the spot" and boy did we have alot of fun hanging out there. Thanks for the blueprint of NSM with the listing of the original store plans. I remember those places... Rhodes, Mr. Dunderbach, Cinema I & II... where did the time go?

I remember when I was little that North Star and Central Park were right there close in both size and people. Its amazing how CP died very slowly.

Record Hole #1, indicated as store 10. I spend almost every penny I made in that place. The rest went to Record Hole #2 and beer for the weekends!!!!!!!!

Cooter Brown's
There was an indoor/outdoor bar on I-10 past 1604 on the left (where La Cantera is now) called Cooter Brown's. It was a college student hangout back in 1985, especially on Thursday nights when they had specials on beer. I think it was mostly students from UTSA (which was way out of town back then) although I was at St. Mary's and there were a lot of frat and sorority kids from there too. The strange thing is that it was out in the wilderness. It was literally surrounded by brush, trees, forest. Out in the middle of nowhere.

"The meats and vegetables are from our own deep freeze". That is scary!
"Rooms for Permanent Guests"
"A VACATION RESORT" and now it is 2 car garages and cable TV.
Thanks for this, where the hell did you find it?
