I think it was mostly students from UTSA (which was way out of town back then) although I was at St. Mary's and there were a lot of frat and sorority kids from there too. The strange thing is that it was out in the wilderness. It was literally surrounded by brush, trees, forest. Out in the middle of nowhere.

I loved that place! A group of us would often go there to play on the old, old shuffleboard table,,,,, reportedly the same table formerly located in the Flame Room beer joint - in the defunct, burned out Hot Wells Hotel --- now THAT was the place to play shuffleboard on that funky old table and drink 50-cent longnecks, circa 1975.

That's a great map of North Star Mall. #66 Waldenbooks was a pretty big bookstore even by today's standards. It's probably my favorite bookstore of all time.
I think the hallway between 70 and 71 used to lead to some restrooms. It's roughly where the Gap is now.
Believe it or not #88 Olga's Hair Fashions may still be in that same spot. At least there is some kind of hair salon there now.

I remember the original Gap was located in front of Rhodes...around 17-19 on that map. This was when they have bright orange bags...and had the slogan..."Fall into the Gap". I am working on finding another map from the early 80's...before the big changes of 85'.

Sizzler
Everybody's Favorite!
How the hell did we go from 2 ribeyes and baked potatoes for under $5 to a $25 dry Outback steak? And I dont ever remember waiting an hour to get seated at the Sizzler!
