Thumbs up GBNF Rulz!

Hello,

Great reading!

I am sure I have run into some of you in the way back.

940: I wonder who your sister is.
I grew up in Colonies North and graduated Clark in '86. I have two older sisters that both went to Clark and graduated I think in '80 and '83. From reading your post, we could have easily run into one another over the years. I used to work at the Handy Andy at Colonies NORTH Mall and then behind there at that great little Bar-B-Q place called The Hickory Hut right next to the veternarians office on Colonies Drive. I used to go to the Fargo's all you can eat and they would let us buy beer!! (I was underaged but looked older).
Small world.
My first job was at Long John Silver's that was on Wurzbach that is now a carwash.
I wish I had posted my thread about Sneaker's nightclub here.
OzzieRules: Do you remember when Alice in Cahins and Ozzie played at the Freeman Coliseum? I had FIRST ROW TICKETS!! Only time in my life to get first row. Pure Luck.

I am going to read a lot more of this thread when I get time, It is 5:00 am here in Baghdad and I have work to do.
Later,

crazedchef

I'm not familiar with the Hillcrest/Babcock area now, although I drive past there on occasion.

I've never seen Ozzie live. I have a good friend, though, who went to every great hard rock concert in the 80's.

I saw the Oz man in Austin after the peeing on the Alamo ban from SA incident. The big thing was during the last song the lights to the front of the stage came down a little then started to flap like bat wings.

hi

I saw just about every major rock show that came through SA after my first concert in '83: Def Leppard, Krokus, & Fastway. That is the reson I got a job at 14 was to go to concerts.
Irnaq: I saw Ozzie with Metallica at the Erwin Center! Great Show!
I just wish I had more clear memories of these concerts, can I be blamed if I just did not say 'NO"?

This is going back to the 70s, but I saw Legs Diamond at the Sunken Gardens Ampitheatre. That was a pretty cool venue for lesser known bands. As for Ozzy, I saw him at the Coliseum in Austin.

Hey lawn..I was at Marshall between 78-82. I missed you by a year or so!

crazedchef..glad you like the thread. I don't think you would have known my sister as she graduated Marshall in 77. Who knows, we might have run into each other at some time, just like I probably have run into some others from this thread years ago! I worked at the old BookStop that used to be over there near Colonies North Mall back in the mid 80's while I was in college, so I spent a lot of time in that area too.

By the way, take care of yourself over in Baghdad.

The Bookstop on I10 - that's a blast from the past from the 80's. I remember when they used to be located where the old Shenandoah skating rink was. Even the rink was still in the floor because they had a sign that said "Watch Your Step" as the floor when down into the old rink area. I'm not sure what's there now. It may be Papasito's Restaurant.

Bookstop moved a couple of blocks south of that before they closed, so they were a little closer to the Colonies North area.

I think I might have cried a little when the bookstop at sunset ridge closed. I loved the architecture there. It was classic 80's post modern, The place could have been designed by Michael Graves. It spilt over from the original EZ's next door. I miss EZ's here in Dallas, I would kill for an alamo bowl, or a thai chicken pizza and a Caesar salad.

smuboy, could you be more specific? I am having trouble remembering where this is. Is it near Broadway? New Braunsfels? Or am I way off?

Sunset ridge is at North New Braunfels and Brees, just south of Eisenhauer/claywell
