When I lived in San Antonio in the 80s. I tried to get a hold of the owner to buy the Pig. It was behind some dive Beer Joint Across from San Jose Mission. I gave the Owner of the dive my number to give to the owner of the pig. I never got a call.

what was the name of the plywood girl who held a school crossing sign? They were in front of every school. It was Buttercrust Sally, I think. Blue and WHite Gingham.

Wasn't it the Sunbeam girl? Ebay has some but they are not the ones that were mounted on the old auto wheels.

Does anyone remember the big mansion on Vance Jackson
at the crest of the hill where Gardina intersects??

It was on the northwest corner.
Designed by the legendary SATx architect
Harvey Partridge Smith.

Daisy and Violet Hilton, the Siamese Twins lived there
in the 1920s and in 1931 lost the house to their manager,
Myer Meyers, in a court judgement.
They died in 1969.

I live nearby, and would really like to find a picture
of that home. I don't know when it was demolished,
The fence is still there.

Default Fun memories.

I was born and raised in the great city of SA. I went to Maverck elem, Longfellow Jr. and Jefferson High. Moved in 1979. Does anyone remember:

Jefferson Villiage?

When Crossroads used to be Wonderland?

Quincy's resturant downtown?

Hungry Family?

La Paloma?

Solo Serve?

The riverwalk was just a river?

I sure miss SA and visit once a year.

My grandmother lived on Donaldson. Back in the 60's there was a Piggly Wiggly store that burned in Jefferson Village. La Paloma was the first mexican joint that I ever had chips and hot sauce. My dad wanted to get me used to jalapenos, had my first nachos at 7 years old. When you get some time look at the rest of this thread. There are quite a few references to Wonderland, the Wonder Theater and other good stuff about that mall. Welcome aboard!

I hated when the local stations started calling themselves Kens and K-sat...I seem to remember that began in the late 80s/early 90s close to the time that channel 5 moved out to Fredericksburg Rd. K-I-N-G TV in Seattle always called themselves King TV and I thought it was the dumbest thing...only to come back to visit the folks in SA years ago and heard K-E-N-S start identifying themselves as Kens 5.
