Not sure if anyone will remember the name of this place. Back in th early 80's there used to be a bar/restaurant right off loop 410 that touted itself as an "Irish-Italian cafe or bar" or something like that. It was located I think, near Bandera Rd. but can't be certain. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I went out there one Sunday and took some pics. I enlarged one to an 8 X 10 and I have that one hanging in my office and another 11 X 14 hanging in my home. I'll try to scan it tonight and get it up. It's a very nice pic of one of the water falls. Soon after I took the series of pics I noticed that the water had stopped running and the place was drying up. I don't remember the name of the place but they should have been given an award on beautification.

I'm going to throw this out there - Birroperiti's. I probably spelled it wrong.
I am familiar with them in the Metroplex. They touted the Irish-Italian
thing.

Major, here's that pic of the waterfall at the business park.
It really was a beautiful park. All of the park benches and picnic tables would have made it a great place to have lunch or take a break. I wish I could remember the name of it.

Thanks for the great info and beautiful pic!
I started a separate thread when my post here didn't get much response, I copied your two posts over to it. I hope you don't mind, if so let me know and I will delete them. One other person, bloobug, visited it during its prime as well.
Cheers! M2

When I finally went around 72 I thought it was the most amazing place in the world. I have also been to the gentlemans place on Fredericksburg road. I used to know his name but it has been at least 7 or 8 years since I have seen him. He was really big into trains and had amased an amazing collection of stuff over the years. I don't know if he is still around or not, he was getting up there. I will have to check next time I am there. Luckily my favorite Hobby Shop in SA is still there, Dibbles over on Donaldson. In fact, I was just there last month giving Jeff a bunch of my money. If you want a real blast from the past you must stop in. It has not changed at all in about 40 years. It along with Kings in Austin are the last true model shops left in Texas.
Thanks again for this wonderful memory.

You are most welcome for the good memory reminder. That's what this is all about. BTW, the place on Fred. Rd. is called Small World Hobbies, and if you Google it, you should even find a picture of the building, and credit to one of the respndents to my original post for the name. I'll have to check out the shop on Donaldson next time I am in town. Glad I jogged an old memory loose!

This is a pretty dated post, but since I still see you active, I'll reply. I have been wanting to post some memories about Central Park Mall anyway, so now is as good a time as any. The tie-in here is that you bet I remmber Mickey Mantle's place, and the only location I know of in SA was in Cetral Park! It was located in an exterior store that faced Loop 410, just outside of the mall entrace to Dilllards. My mom and grandmother took me and my brother there just after it opened when Mickey was there making an appearance. I was so young that I didn't know who he was, but my mom made me walk over to him anyway for an autograph. I still have it! The place didn't last too long, and here is the really weird part - I worked in the same location in the late '70's when it was a Radio Shack! It still had the same outside decor! Just inside was NY Pizza, who made some of the best calzones and sausage rolls I have eaten.
A few obscure memories of the old Central Park:
1) Anyone remember the very short-lived cafeteria there named "Britainy Buffet?'"It was on the north side of the mall, advertised gormet food, and had aquariums in the dining area.
2) Remember the hamburger and roast beef restaurant on the south side of the mall by Sears? I think it was owned by Jim's, and the front part was the hamburger plae, and the back part by the parking lot was called "The Beef Barron". My family ate there a lot, and way before Arby's.
3) Remember the "Orange Julius" that was upstairs outside of Sears (I think)?
4) Remember shopping at "House of Jeans"? They had advertising T-shirts with old movie stars wearing jeans like "Jean" Harlowe & Norma "Jean". HA!
Hopefully these are some rather offbeat memories of CP that some will recall. See ya.

Windsor Park Burger Joint
Way back in 1976, I remember a place in Windsor Park Mall called Prime Time
Burgers or Burger-Works. They were not bad, however in addition to their mainstay 1/4 lb burger, they offered the "Prime Quarter". This tasty treat was so juicy that it was a mess to eat. Something told me that they just didn't cook it as long as the regular burger, which played heck with my food
safety sensibilities years later whenever I thought about it.

KENS Commercial
Has anyone seen a new KENS commercial for "The biggest thing in KENS history".
Anyway, it has little clips of all the biggest moments in SA history as they were breaking. It shows both our darkest days and our shinning moments of glory.
- I believe it starts out with the sniper at the Parade (you can hear Gary DeLaun's voice reporting live right as it was happening.)
- The big snow of '85 (something that will never been seen again in our lifetimes)
- When the school bus was washed away in Kerville (I believe the new Chopper 5 helped rescue some of the kids)
- The Pope visiting
- The Spurs first championship
- Flood of 2001 (when the water went over 281)
- Dan Cook's last day
I can remember all those things like it was yesterday. Anyway, it almost brings tears to my eyes to think of the things I have been witness to over the years in SA. Some of these things didn't make the World news, but they will be with most of us in SA till our last breath. Very inspiring commercial. I wish I could get a copy of it.
