It was right next to the Motel and it was called Golden Steer. Golden Corral is the all you can eat place. I remember Pat and Gladys as well. I don't remember ever eating there though.
We dressed up because eating out was an event for us.

I remember two hot dog places. One was next to Fun City Toys/Lionel's Playworld across from South Park Mall and the other was on the corner of Military Drive and South Flores (Somewhere near the Fargo's Pizza). They had different names, but one was called W.C. Franks.

Yeah, I just can't remember that name. But, I guess that was it. Seems like it was something else. I new the name well for many years but my memory's getting bad . The reference to Golden Corral was just conjered up by seeing Golden Steer in print. It was right next to the El Tejas if not attached to it. Was there a counter on the right when you first walked in?

man i totally remember BEST PRODUCTS and going there with my parents to "shop". i remember they had a cool assortment of toys and distinctly remember getting a good amount of my STAR WARS and M.A.S.K. toys there for some reason... but at least the land went to good use as it is now the site of North Park Mazda. (where i take my Mazda for it's annual check up. ) i even remember going the the BEST off of 410 and Ingram with a buddy to pick up some rain checked speakers back in my senior year...that was in '96, so it was in decline at that point. they had the best catalogs.

All those names sound familiar but I don't recall any ever being in or near Flores & Military. Anybody remember Kiddie City on Pleasanton Rd. south of Military Dr. at the corner of sussex? Later became a carpet store owned by Siobahn Anders family. I'm sure I mispelled her name. She was the red head that used to do weather forecasts on local station (forgot which one).

Yes, it was in a smaller building that faced the building where the the Kroger was (Military Drive and South Flores). There was a Fargo's Pizza there too. It didn't last very long.
I attended Carroll Bell Elementary on Pleasanton Rd (late 60's). I used to walk through the Kiddie City on the way home (I lived on Shrine) everyday. We would go in the front and exit out the back through the bicycle dept.

Sure.. Best Products Showroom. You would find what you want then fill out a little paper order slip and turn it into a sales desk. I remember they had little containers that had order pads and those little pencils with no erasers like at golf courses. Then they would call your order number or name and you would go pick up your stuff at another desk by the front doors. They would slide it out on one of those long conveyor belt thingies that had tons of little metal wheels on it.

You probably remember Model Market. I used to get model cars there ( at Kiddie City ) and parts for my bikes in the back. Remember Griff's ? Still there ! Remember the little building that sat out in the parking lot in front of the post office? Close to the street. That was an Orange Julius! I remember when they built the thing . Around 1964 or 1965. Buildings still there but Orange Julius has been gone a long time.
Did you know Dan Blocker who played Hoss Cartwright on Bonanza went to Carroll Bell?

I remember there was one of those Hot Dog places inside SPM...It had a school cafeteria look to it. But I know for a fact there was a Hot Dog place at the twin strip malls in front of Century South, on Dos or Don Pedros side. Because when I was a little runt (11 years old), around 86 or 88, there was a Mr. Gatti's where the ice cream place is now, my mother would ask us...do we want pizza or hot dog, after we've seen a movie. I always voted for pizza.
