Wouldn't know anything about that. But, I'm sure it was different owners than way back when it was on Military Drive.
Now Playland Park on Broadway has a odd story behind it. I've always wondered about this little park on Mission Road at Steves. Used to go to a baseball game at Mission Stadium back in the 50's. I passed by the place all my life and there was a place across the street from it. It had a archway at the entrance . I'm quite I recall now it said Riverside Park. It was fenced in and from the road you could see what looked like the remnants of rides. Especially one of those contraptions that spin all the little seats out at the ends of chains. Anyway I've always been curious and so did a search afew months ago. It seems that the man that opened Playland Park and the guy who started the Riverside had been in business together. They had opened a park of sorts across Broadway from Playlands future location in the 40's ( wartime) and shortly had a falling out. Military guys were coming in drunk & routy ,neighbors were complaining . So they split . The one guy built Playland as a good clean park for the family and the other guy who was a cross dressing wierdo opened the Riverside. It's said that unsavory types were always drinking and carrying on. I always figured some kids were hurt or killed there and they shut down.
BTW , CPS now owns the property and runs their service out of there.

My grandparents bought their 69 Camero at Dumas Milner- I remember the little metal dealer plate on the back of the car next to the taillights.

There used to be alot of them around after he was gone. I would have guessed they were gone before 1969.

Now that I'm thinking about was there a dealership named Newt Godfree or something like that? I seem to remember that name too- was it a Chevy dealer? When I was a kid my grandmother had a 69 Camaro and my grandfather had a 63 Nova.

Was Walgreens at shoppers city located where the Revco store was?

I remember Ole Toro from the late 70's into the mid 80's, great carne guisada tacos.

I think so the dmv registration is still there. There was a Pier One Imports in Shoppers City Mall in the 70's.

Is that coin store still in there?

Jordan Ford and Tom Benson Chevrolet used to be downtown on St. Mary's just south of where CPS offices are now. There's a hotel or motel where Jordan Ford was. Just north of Durango. Hermann Sons Lodge was between them. With there old ( manually operated pin setters ) bowling alley! Gillespie Ford was at Broadway & Jones. Smith Chevrolet & Cavender Buick, Olds were just south of Jones.
In 1958 or 1959 my dad bought a new Mercury Turnpike Cruiser. Pushbutton automatic on the dash. Electric rear window. He bought it on Main just north of where I-35 runs today about 2-3 blks up on the left. Think it was called Turbiville Motors, now I North Park Lincoln Mercury is in that bldg. My dad said it was the biggest piece of crap he ever owned.
