Think I ate my first taco when a taco house (I mean house) opened I think right next to Cuda's. I probably wasn't ten yet. Allthe tacos I've eaten since then I still remember the taste of those . They were corn tacos and ground beef! Yummy!

almost hit the nail on the head, not related to the flame drive-in though. the garcia's still own and operate the business. sucks that they fired the long time manager, guadalupe. this guy got shot in a robbery about 15 years ago and worked for minimal salary for Oscars for almost 30 years. Guadalupe now works as a busboy at Incredible Pizza...total slap in the face.

Back in the 50's and 60's I think there were a lot of shootings right there!

in the 50's and 60's it was a 99.5% white neighborhood. it was predominantly inhabited by the original Belgium Heights families and also was home to many active and retired military families from Lackland/Kelly.

Supposedly Frank had too many relatives involved in the store and funny things began to happen. Next you know, the company is obviously heading downhill. Reference a movie house on Lackland AFB, it was called the Tinker theater. Don't know if and when it closed or what took its place.

Hello Joe, I'd forgotten about Beckers hand in it. Tinker sounds familiar. Check your mail.

Are you speaking of area between Zarzamora and Nogalitos south of Frio City road? The trouble may have come from further south. Maybe area known as the " Circle " . Zarzamora , Nogalitos, Someset Rd. & New Laredo HWY. all come together was notorious for gang activity in 60's. Circle Pharmacy and Circle 81 Drive in were right there.

its the 4 points area. that area you speak of is where the SAShoes is located and was a bit dangerous, but not what would be considered horrible. my grandfather lived in this area since the 30's when they would burn crosses in his frontyard. my grandfather owned a total of 13 hotels and bars throughout san antonio, was a freemason, and founding member of the mexican chamber of commerce. my grandmother was also a tough, gun toting. cookie herself. niether spoke english very well, but managed to sell some of their properties to the likes of the marriot, heb, various banks, etc...

Do you remember " Red Finger's " welding shop and the big hardware store down New Laredo HWY close to Military Drive?
