I worked at a low-end clothing called Weiner's at Blanco and West Avenue (all of those closed down in the 90's, I believe) and would take lunch break at a hot dog place called Weiner Works (long gone). I also remember eating at a place I think was called Sopapilla's, which served hot sopapillas at the end of your meal.
I remember eating cotton candy at the Globe Store right down San Pedro past the mall, followed by REALLY discount shopping at Solo Serve. And-this is WAY back-there was a restaurant in that same area called the Zuider Zee, that had a windmill. It was a HUGE thrill when I was young. Anyone else remember that?

I always thought GW's was awesome, its a shame they all closed. Where was Weiners located on Blanco and West? Also Weiner works i think started with the hot dogs for 39 cents in the early 80's.

Satx....it was called the "Alamo Drive-in" ? By the time I was in high school we had to drive to San Pedro and Bitters where the Embassy Theater is now. I had no idea one was so close to the "hood" back then! neato!

And the answer is.........
Back to "Hancock" Tx...and where it was located near San Antonio. It's currently UNDER Canyon Lake. That along with a community called "Crane's Mill". Parts of Crane's Mill Road are still in existence on the Western end of the Lake. Crane's Mill Park is on the South side and Crane's Mill Road picks up on the North side of the lake. There used to be a road that connected those two points before the lake was planned.
Hancock Rd turns South of Hwy 306 toward the Eastern end of the lake. "Hancock" is underwater somewhere in that end.
Crazy huh?

I never ordered anything except a Cherry Limeade and onion rings...... I think I cried when they tore it down.

I also remember that Shakey's was across the street also.

Shakey's pizza was THE place after HS football games! That building is still there. I think it was turned into a night club at one time. It painted gray and has some funky "castle" top roof line, but it's gated all the way fronting Austin Hwy......and always deserted. There are however, some cars that frequent the BACK of the store for some "business". The owners must be holding on waiting for the right opportunity to snatch it up one day. At least it's not dilapidated and run down.

You know Wcat drove by there the other night and thought the same thing, I remember going there many times. Good to see the building is still up.
