There's not a Walmart there. I think there is a residential area that's fairly new, around 20 years old.

I don't recall that. I remember when Marshalls on Evers and Summit used to be a grocery store. I want to say it was a Krogers. I think the Jack-in-the-Box is still there and across the street was a Sound Warehouse. What is Conan's? I remember a Conn's in the Summit Plaza/Center. That was an appliance store.

I spent many happy hours in the toy row waiting for my mom to do the weekly shopping there. The assistant manager gave me the blow-up Orkin bug from the pesticide display when I was around 3yrs or so.

My first savings account was opened in that store at the San Antonio Savings Bank next to the customer Service window. Remember how steep the Boswell intersection was at Military?

I am not sure, but it seems familar. I know I never ate there, I was always at the El Azteca just up the road from there when I was in that area. That was my favorite mexican restaurant for years!

There is a Sam's club in that area. Maybe that's what johnrex was thinking of?

Speaking of drive in theaters, does anyone remember the one next to the Northwest shopping center on Fredericksburg Rd. ? I believe it was called Fiesta Drive In. Having lived in San Antonio for 40 years, many cool places are gone and many farms and old two lane roads have turned into six lane roads surrounded by endless neighborhoods and shopping centers. The most recent painful loss for me has to be Scrivener's, what a neat place that was.

I had many birthday parties at the Shakey's on Fredericksburg Rd. I can still recall the smell of that place and the large wooden tables and benches, and the window into the kitchen so you could watch the cook toss the pizza dough.

That must be what it is. I know the drive in was still in operation between 1982-1983, but a big shopping center took it's place sometime before 1996. So the 20 yr old residential neighborhood is not the location. The big store with acres of parking is.

That was the Frederickburg Drive in. http://cinematreasures.org states it closed in 1982.
