Windsor Park
We used to eat at the Po Folks at Windsor Park, right there on the corner of 35 and Walzem. I think it is a Las Palapas now.

Yes it was called the Fun and Gift Shop. It was their Second Store. The other one was located in Wonderland Mall. They were there for a long time. Then they bought out a Store called L B Company Downtown and opened up the one at Military Drive. Yes they did have like an adult joke section and a complete line of Pipes and Bongs. I dabbled a little in Magic. So I was in both shops quite a bit. There was a Magician That worked there named Novak. He also had a Sci Fi shop in a flea market. Man I can't remember what it was called. Something like Saturn 3. I need to start logging stuff down. I can't remember like I used ta. HHW

IN my early 20s I was hanging out in the Ingram area. I ate at all the Po Folks but I think I ate at the one in that location the most. Great Homemade Rolls and Good Chicken, and Catfish.

I'm also curious if there was another location for Po' Folks. Like a smaller cafe style. Or just a different layout.

I remember that place was always packed back in the early 80's, then some guy was killed at the location on fred road and business went downhill fast. I think its where pizza hut is now.

It was not exactly my favorite place to go (I would have preferred Italian) but the memory of Po Folks is very nostalgic. Now that you mention it, I think I do remember how good their rolls were.

I remember all those clubs. I only got to got to DMZ, Wackys and the Last Stand, which was down the street from where I lived (on Mission Road) I remember they had a viewing party for The Great Rock n Roll Swindle (Sex Pistols movie) and only my friend and I showed up. They used the money we paid to get in to by themselves muchies. I remember the Bone Club and Oasis and how punk SA use to be. I remember going to North Star Mall and there would be mad Punkers there.
Anyone remember that cookie/sweets shop at North Star Mall. They had all these animatronic character, kind of like the Keebler Elves, that would put on a little show like they were baking. I remember they sold Churros there. Never had one before and they were great.

Flash In The Pan! I'd nearly forgot about the Armadillo races. OK, what was the name of the winning Armadillo in the early 70s whose name they could not say on TV because it was nasty?
