Does anyone remember the "creature feature" type show that came on late at night, hosted by the grim reaper? He would have some gimmick, like getting off a Via bus or tripping over his robe over something. I was kind of scared of him as a kid, but he cracked me up so I watched the show frequently. I'm thinking very early 80's, maybe even late 70's.

I absolutely remember this! If I'm correct, he would sit in front of a background that had a gothic-arch type of door. You couldn't see his face under the hooded robe and he'd use lots of puns.

Another thing I remember was watching all the old classic horror/sci-fi movies on Saturday afternoons(KENS-TV?) too. I recall seeing Squirm(70's killer worm flick), Tarantula(giant spider in desert) and many others. Those late night creature-feature movies are one memory from my childhood that I treasure.

Does anyone have a picture of themselves sitting on the little shetland pony the photographer would bring to your house and put the little red cowboy had and chaps on and then snap your pic? That was VERY common here in SA growing up.

OK, I'll admit, I didn't read through all 96 pages to see if it was already mentioned, but I really miss the ORIGINAL Macaroni Grill out in Leon Springs. My wife and I went to the "replacement" one in Huebner Oaks tonight and it's just not the same. The atmosphere is different, there's no wine sitting out for you to drink, you can actually get in without having to wait...it just isn't as fun as the original.

Also, keeping with the Leon Springs theme, does anyone remember Nacho Mamma's? It was right next to Macaroni, and I think now it's a rent-out room for Rudy's.

I remember both the original Macaroni Grill and Nacho Mama's...
They always seemed to have a good crowd. Was it the flood that closed them down??

Not sure about Nacho Mama's, but the flood of 02 closed Macaroni's for good

OMG, I think that i was suppose to be on that pony but was too young to understand that the pony was friendly. I seem to remember my mom telling me that was one of the few times I cried.

Default What's up with "Jaliscos"?

I've been back in San Antonio for 3 years now (it's my second go-round), and I"m wondering what is this "Jalisco Style" Mexican food trend that seems to be
everywhere. I don't remember it back in the late 70s to mid 80s. Any back-
ground info?

Too funny, I ask this very question to my friends all the time. I grew up here in SA and never heard of it until a few years back.
