I just checked some of the old ads in the back of my high school yearbooks and I saw some for New West, Wonderland Mall and the old Handy Andy off Wurzbach/Colony (which is now a Big Lots), among many other ads of places long gone...

You must have graduated from Clark.

Class of '86 myself.

Worked at the Handy Andy for years.

What the hell was I thinking?

San Antonio was a great place to grow up as a kid. Born in 52 we lived on Ridge Drive. I remember when I was single digits old that the thunder storms seemed to be real intense. As I got older they were no big deal then my wife and I moved to the metroplex and the storms here are something to remember.
When Carla rolled through San Antonio, I remember my dad had a canvas tarp over the glass door and how I used to sneak a peek at the storm. That storm was exciting.

No, I graduated from Marshall...I'm a little bit older than you so when I was in high school, Clark was brand new and just opening but many students remained at very crowded Marshall including the seniors (that senior class was about 1,000 and because it was so large, they graduated downtown at the old Hemisfair Arena if I remember correctly) and many juniors who had siblings there and were allowed to stay...they had to provide their own transportation but NISD officials allowed it. After the seniors of '80 graduated, the ties between the two schools were pretty much split then.

I remember Chap's on SW Military Drive. Thursdays was Ladies Only until 10:00 p.m. and drinks were free. Of course, the drinks were watered down, so my friends and I would get our drinks and go to the end of the line until 10:00 p.m. when the guys were allowed in. There was a billiards place next door, but the name escapes me.

Anybody remember Alexanders? It was located near Brackenridge park. I think on St Mary's Street. Used to see the Clocks there. And Bombay Bicycle was not that far from it.
