I remember the Consumer commissanary, but was warehouse grocery (mainly on the southside) connected to handy andy also?

I was thinking on S.Flores behind where Solo Serve was where they built a Magna Mart which may have changed to Warehouse Grocery. Or vice versa.

Wasn't the first one the one on Commercial off Southcross next to I-35? Me & my brother used to go in there and buy steaks to Barbecue. Then became a flea market.

What's that connection? Didn't the Jaffe family build and own Central Park or North Star? Aren't they in the movie business also? I know they lived in Olmos Park off McCollough around the corner from the family that owned Solo Serve.
I worked at Consumer's Wholesale Commissary on Broadway the first year they were open. It was the first store (at least in San Antonio) to have what today is very commonplace - scanners!

They did live in Olmos Park - a beautiful home. I saw the inside briefly once when I had to drop papers off there when I worked for their CPA a few years later. The commissary, Handy Andy and CPM were all owned by the Jaffe's. Movie business? It's possible. They seem to have their hands in quite a few pots

I want to be a Texan in Texas!

I did go to Hemisfair. It was awesome!

I was in the inaugural class of John Jay High School. One of the original students has a great web site and I've gotten reaquainted with people I have not seen in 40 years and some I never knew while I was there.

I believe Warehouse Grocery was affiliated with Albertson's?
