There was a Billy R's at the corner of 410 and Jones-Maltsberger in the '70s. I waitressed there for a few months in late 1976. I was working the counter one night and served coffee to Coby Dietrick and another man. When they left, I noticed one of them had left a black book behind. I flipped through it for identification and ..... uh oh!

I quickly slipped it in the counter under the cash register without mentioning it to anyone. Sure enough, about 5 minutes later Dietrick rushes in, red-faced and perspiring, and asked if he'd left something behind. I smiled and handed over the Spurs playbook.

I don't recall ever seeing someone so relieved in my life. LOL

Austin Highway as well, but I went to the one that was in Sunset Square, Where the new HEB is was a Bealls, there was a drug emporium in there, Baskin & Robbins which was our usual reason for going to the shopping center.

Hey everyone, I just found this forum and love it. Lots of great memories! I remember the Bandera Bowl being a Value Club at one time.

Handy Andy had the S&H Green Stamps, but can you remember the stamps that HEB had? Texas Gold!

Fedmart is where Academy is today on Vance Jackson and 410.

And who can forget Lone Star Ice Houses. They were everywhere, even in Helotes. Who bought them out? Stop and Go?

Where was the Nighthawk more specifically? I can remember the sign, but for some reason I remember the location of the one in Austin better than the one on San Pedro. Was it outside the loop?

Irnag, the Nighthawk restaurant was located at the intersection of Main & Ashby behind San Antonio College (San Pedro High).

Irnag, it is still a taco stand..
