I used UpFront Carpet Care. These guys use truckmounts like stanley. They charged me like $40 for 4 rooms and did fantastic work! 210-970-1573

make sure to ask for the father and son team because they did awesome work at my house!

I've heard the pad starts breaking down after the first carpet cleaning. Is there any truth to that? I've got 6 month old carpet in some areas and am supposed to get it cleaned. Would it be better to use a company like ChemDry?

Never heard that one before. The closets in our place had 18 year old carpet and the padding never broke down in there, or in the main parts of the house where I removed 8 year old stuff to lay down hardwoods. I cleaned the carpets there at least twice before that happened, let alone whatever previous owners did.

Did you steam clean or use dry chemicals?

Padding never breaks down. We had a water extraction done in our house and when they removed the padding it looked the same as the day it was installed. Honestly I would avoid companies that use dry chemicals.... That is actually the worst method for carpet cleaning. The number 1 recommended method is steam cleaning.

How is dry cleaning a carpet the worst method? Is there more information available somewhere online?

I went with Blackmon Mooring a few weeks ago for a simple steam clean. The price was right, but the job was poorly done. Lots of spots left. I'd dare say it was due to my space being unable to handle a truck mount, so they had to use portable packs.

In any event, I've had better steam jobs in the past. I won't be going back with these guys again.
