Attention Balcones Heights residents. Your mayor Suzanne De Leon showed up to testify against ending the red light camera program. In case you are wondering, they are profiting from a camera program. She was even willing to lie in testimony to keep the cameras. She also said all of you love the cameras because in all the years they have been up she has never heard one complaint from any citizen. Let's see if you can fix that. 210.735.9148 https://bhtx.gov/people/suzanne-de-leon

I did not know that thanks for sharing. Red light cameras have nothing to do with safety and everything to do with "taxing" people.

I don't think it has "nothing to do with safety", but I agree, it is mostly about revenue generation, and mostly for the company providing them.

It wouldn't be an issue if people didn't run red lights, and that is definitely a major problem around here.

According to OP, the mayor said "in all the years they have been up she has never heard one complaint from any citizen."

If the mayor did in fact say that...it is BS but I have no clue if she did.

It is really easy...just don't run the red light and contribute to their crooked ways of collecting money.

No kidding.
I learned many years ago to be a Saint when driving thru Balcones Heights, Leon Valley, Alamo Heights, Selma, etc.

I'd love to have cameras in San Antonio near our schools. We could use the revenue and the safety.

I got a ticket for running a red light in Balcones Heights. I am a fairly careful driver but I remember that day well, I was in a rush, probably going to fast on Fred Rd, would have had to slam on the brakes (my fault) when the light turned yellow, so it was red as I went through it. 100% my fault. I was annoyed at myself but didn't hesitate to pay the ticket - I did, after all, break the law and create a safety hazard. And you can be darn sure I'm 1000x more conscientious when driving through Balcones Heights esp, but any road, really.

Why would anyone oppose them?
