Default Steven's Ranch Project on Hold

Wonder how this will effect the huge shopping area that was scheduled to front that area?

From this mornings business section:

Never mind...that would be REDBIRD RANCH area I was thinking this article was referring to....

I guess this refers to that area that they gutted out Culebra...how sad after all that damage they did to the area.

I think that is the area next to Redbird Ranch. We just moved out there and had been anticipating the shopping area, specifically. oh well. There's a road paved off Potranco (between Bella Vista and Redbird Ranch) with some side streets off it that basically leads to nowhere at the moment.

It is on hold but I am sure that it will get back on track before too long. Even if it is purchased by another company or reduced in size, work had already started so there is hope.

I drove on that new road a couple of weeks ago. Nice road that leads nowhere. Maybe the state could take it over and make it into the SH211 connection between Potranco and Culebra?

Don't bet on it! San Antonio's new housing market is over.

Deborah Bauer...the maven of far West San Antonio land deals ...who still is trying to sell part of Stevens Ranch to home builders, said Tuesday the project has gotten "delayed" due to weather problems and a shift in the housing market last year.
"Last year, all development was delayed substantially because of weather as well as the national market slowdown that left many builders unable to purchase lots or make land deals in any market, regardless of their local performance," Bauer said. "We're working on getting the project back on track very soon."

Way to stick to the industry line, Debby. Now is the best time to buy!

There they go, blaming it on the weather! The "weather" didn't stop the development down the street at Redbird Ranch.

It bothers me enough when they say, "The weather was to blame for a 2 car collision on Loop...". Now it's, "The weather was to blame for the foreclosure of a 1300 acre speculative development." The Californians didn't stop buying SA houses because they couldn't sell their house back in California. They didn't stop buying SA houses because of the sub-prime mortgage crisis. They stopped buying SA houses because the summers were just too darn hot for them!
