Not HEB but my current employer ( major employer in San Antonio) took about 2 and a half weeks for the background check and I actually had to do a lot of it myself. It was weird.

Have you called them to check on your status? Years ago one of my employee's husband was hired by HEB and he's a felon. So there's hope for you. Best of luck!

As long as you were truthful in your application/interview, you'll likely be okay. If you lied or shaded the truth, odds are that they'll pass on you.

There might be many factors - depends who they order to do background checks, or perhaps they are still doing interviews and will do background checks on all prospects at once?
One week isn't a long time. It could take 2-3 weeks, or even longer, till you hear back from them.

Somebody I used to work with told me recently that his HR department had forbidden him from hiring someone with a DUI record. Not because of the DUI, but because they didn't check the box on the application form admitting that they had a conviction. The moral of that story is to resist the temptation to lie on the form and hope the background check misses whatever you lied about.

HR can advise him not to hire someone but they aren't the decision makers.

Apparently, they are at this employer. They control the hiring paperwork.

I had an ex with a DUI who interviewed at HEB and he said that this was one reason he never heard back from them (that and the schedule sucked).
