So, I haven't posted in quite a while. If you were wondering about an update on my daughter who left home at 18, well there is a lot that has happened, but that is not exactly why I am posting today. We now have a granddaughter we get to see every other weekend (different guy than who she originally left for), but our daughter rarely sees or talks to us unless she needs something. It's typical for our situation. She is still on our insurance and we still pay her cell phone bill as well as try to help with the baby when needed. Wishing her the best as she starts to figure out what to do in life.

The reason why I am posting is because I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is I should do career wise. I am in a pickle. I have been in school off and on while working and running businesses over the years, trying to just finish my BA. I loath school, but I figure since I have loans I should finish it out or I will be strapped with no degree and student loan debt. I hate my poor decisions, but nothing I can change about it now. I have owned and operated two small businesses. I have been looking at what my background has been and here is what I have come up with. Advice (be kind) is appreciated.

My background consist of...

Babysitting-NOT INTERESTED
Waiting tables-NOT INTERESTED
Retail-?
Makeup artist?
MLM-NOT INTERESTED
Teaching fitness, dance and some PT ?
Clerical biz & medical-NOT INTERESTED

I have owned two businesses- Party venue for kids and a mobile dance studio. Both were fun, but they didn't last longer than 5 years. I like the idea of being in business for myself, but still concerned about failure. So, here is what I have considered.

Teacher- to be a dance/drill team director for a public school- Not a lot of opportunities for this and very time consuming.

Cosmetologist- to be in business for myself and help supplement income, but unsure about money.

Mobile Studio again, but not really into the stress of that.

Real Estate agent, but have no idea what I would be getting myself into.

Boutique owner, but again I have no idea about this and unsure if it is really something I would stick with.

So, can anyone offer advice? Anything else I might consider? So torn, and I am finishing up my degree with a basic General Bachelors of Science. It is pretty worthless at this point and I still have summer, fall and spring to go. Sigh....

Thanks,
Sc

Tell us something....

If you woke up tomorrow morning and you were offered the chance to do anything you wanted - what would that be?

Dance/Drill team director of a private of public school only teaching dance and coaching drill team half time/competitions, spring shows and performance opportunities. However, I have said it before, these positions are few and far between and a lot of better qualified candidates are coming out in droves from colleges. I am asking myself if I should give this up, because the ship has sailed and I'm not 20 something anymore and maybe it is time to find another dream goal. So confusing. I don't want to hold on to something that needs to be released. Ya know?

So.....why not hook up with a company that specializes in the outfits and equipment that these teams need/use? Take advantage of you insider knowledge of how different materials work/don't work, how some pieces of equipment work better for a given application than others? USE your experience and knowledge, and take advantage of your ability to act as a mentor/technical advisor.
