Did you know that school actualfunding was frozen in 2011? That NEISD has actually been shorted $150 million from 2011-present due to the freeze? And that NEISD actually only receives about 70% of that amount people pay on their tax bill?

Schools need to educate all children, even when they don't show up for school (and don't receive funding for that day). Schools absorb the unpaid lunch bills/lost books, etc each year. Schools and teachers often supply kids with items that their families can't or won't purchase (because 2 pencils won't last all year).

I'm not sure that greedy is the right word.

I was able to check my appraisal online but have gotten nothing in the mail. Has everyone gotten their statements in the mail? My mail has been a little sketchy.

Quick question.

A home I'm looking at purchasing was built in 2016 and has been on the market for 130 days, its tax assessment is well below the mean at 184,480, where the average is probably around the 220's.

Since it's a new home, would it most likely jump to about the purchase price in the 220's next year, once it's actually been occupied? Can it jump that high?

Another home I'm looking at actually dropped from 221K down to 215K this year, which is a bonus!

Spot on!!! Hence, why I voted against most of the bonds this time around. The politicians make it sound like its free money and will have little or not effect on the average citizen. Hardly. WE all pay for it in the end.
