Thumbs up ACS Adopt A Thon today!!

Well, I know that Sam I Am posted a thread about this, but I jis gotta write something about it! It's ME that added to our family today! We adopted Silvia, a gorgeous, sweet, loving, fabulous, beautiful, friendly, well adjusted, strikingly pretty, happy, (did I mention beautiful ) Sable colored Siberian Husky!! Our family is so excited to have her!

I have to commend the whole crew (which were largely volunteers, if I understand correctly) who orchestrated this whole event!!! There are tons of helpful volunteers there, and some of the happiest dogs I've ever seen! You still have until 3 today to head down there and add a friend to your family. There are some absolute beauties there, just wish I had room for them all!!

I'll post a pic of Silvia in a little while (kids just had to take her out for a walk the moment we got home ), but wanted to really encourage folks to support the shelter and to give a big round of applause and hearty THANX to all of the folks for their hard work and dedication! They are truly angels!

HOW WONDERFUL!!! All our dalmations have been from rescues, and it is a wonderful thing to give a dog that is here and waiting on a good home!

I know you (and the kiddos) will be wonderful mommy's to her! Can't wait to see the pics!!!!

That's awesome! I went through all the photos of the dogs available and there are some might gorgeous ones! I wish we could add another pet to our family, but I know right now it would be too much for us. We have one dog and 2 cats right now. Both cats are from a local shelter, the dog we got from a friend when we were in Alaska.

Can't wait to see pictures!

Due to my work schedule.. for me to adopt one would be bad for the dog. I am never home.. I go home just to sleep.. But congratz on your new pet

Well, and a big round of applause and most hearty THANX to you and your family too, for taking in a sweet creature that deserves a home and love...
ahhh, the payoff we get from these adoptees is immeasurable....

unfortunately, I don't have my own place YET (yeesh seems like forever), so I can't do any furry adoptions.....
Does Silvia have those gorgeous blue eyes??? is that the one???

Yep, PGR, she does have those gorgeous blue eyes. We are all positively in love with this girl! I can't begin to explain how sweet and lovable she is. She's standing here with her head on my lap, those gorgeous blue eyes looking up at me, right now! (As we were driving home, she came up from behind me and put her head on my shoulder. Melted my heart!) And Paka ~ LOL! If I numbered our pets along with the kids I'd be Jules15! (1 fish, 4 cats and now 3 dogs!) Aaaaaaaaaand ~ we've got our eye on another 4 legger at the shelter!! We're hoping to know on him in the next week or so. We like to keep things lively around here!

I hafta tell ya, looking at the pics of the folks getting all the dogs ready for today ~ that was an amazing event! The immense amount of time and energy that these folks devoted is nothing short of spectacular! And the joy in the people's faces was a beautiful thing to see as well. My heart is full today!

And my darned daughter accidentally took the camera with her to work today. So unless I get a spurt of energy to head up to La Cantera to get it, pix will hafta wait until tomorrow. Bummer. (Silvia does love to ride in the car, tho, sooooooooooo........ maybe.)

I just want to also chime in and say THANK YOU for rescuing and saving a life!!!!! Your new pup is lucky to have you and your family just as you are lucky to have her. Congrats!!!!!!!!!
With all the wonderful dogs (and many purebreds, if that's imp. to you) I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't rescue. It just baffles me....

I would love to adopt a Boxer, but my wife keeps saying that he will grow too big for our son. He just turned 1... 3 weeks ago. There is a couple that walks their Boxer past my house occasionally and I always comment on what a good looking dog he is.

Hope to get one soon!!!
