Sorry. I work in public health. It's hard to encourage fast food eating. It goes against everything I do.

While I appreciate the greater healthfulness of a home cooked meal, I also know that it's impossible to eat out as cheaply as eating in... unless you're into dumpster diving.

Do I dare brag about how last Sunday I was at the new and improved HEB Plus at 1604/Blanco and sampled a whole bunch of cheese? Not the cheap stuff. They had the $11/lb cheese out for the sampling. I must have had about $20 worth and I said to heck with lunch! Sams Club also marks down their meat if you have a business membership and get their early. You can usually pick up chicken and I even picked up some nice rib eyes for like $5.50/lb.

As far as eateries go, Jim's still does their Monday - Friday meal special where you can get a full meal for $5.99...and I think it even comes up with sweet tea.

I do remember that Tuesday is smothered steak.

It seems when we first got into town, we always seemed to end up there on a Tuesday. LOL

Now its a running joke in our house...its Tuesday, want some smothered steak? LOL

Go by any Bill Millers about 30 mins before closing and see how much their pies are going for. Any time I eat at Bill MIllers really late I always walk out with a pie for about a dollar. They don't save them for the next day so they go really cheap.

Go into HEB, hit the sushi stand, pick up your fave, go over to the cooler, pick up your fave drink. Now as you shop (or act like your shopping) eat said sushi and drink said drink. Pay for your groceries (if you actually got any) and leave. You have just had a free meal.
This works at any HEB.
Thank you HEB for the free meal.

I do not believe this fits within the spirit of sampling their goods...but have fun with that!

Explains why the sushi is so expensive. Gotta recoup their costs.

That looks like a great ministry, and I would imagine with the economy going south they will start to get really busy right about now.

Gas is 3.15 a gallon???????
