Hello guys,

Soooooooo first, thanks to folks who gave some ideas in house hunting etc.... we got a house in Schertz after going back and forth in beetween SA and surroundings.

Now, new and silly dilemma: need some tips for good food places in Schertz! We got some ads in mail....but still, those who are here or know some spots, care to share?

Thank you!

Check the restaurant opening and closing thread. Yelp, Nextdoor, neighbors, just driving around....Schertz is still part of SA so you may need to drive "into town" to get to other places. Cibolo and Converse may also have options for you.

Only part of Schertz is in Bexar County.Drive down FM1518 to see what I mean . The majority of it is right across the Cibolo Creek in Guadalupe County.
We have the usual fast food places. However, there is a new chinese place called Magic China in Cibolo. It's right across from Schlather Intermediate School. In the same plaza is Super Donuts, Cibolo Coffee shop and RD Burgers. Up by the Walmart on FM3009 and IH35, there is Siam Cuisine, Encanto Grill and Mattenga's which has pizza and other items like spaghetti. They also do a lunch buffet. Further up is Cappereli's in Garden Ridge as well as Grumpy's on Nacodoches Road in Bracken. There is also Thai Chef , Plaza Pizza and Wings, El Charro and Selly's(mexican) There is also Chilangus, another mexican place. In Cibolo you have Catelano's (italian) Emily's Place , Old Main Ice House( they have food trucks there)
and 1900 Wine and Ale Bar.
We also have Aw Dang's (chinese) and Abel's Diner in Schertz, both on the IH35 Access Road headed towards San Antonio.Selma has Cheddars,Hooters , Pasha Mediterrain Grill, Firebirds Burritos and some new place that is going into an old house by the Catholic church. In the Forum which spans both Live Oak and Selma is Pot Belly Sandwich Shop, Mod Pizza,Five Guys, Romano's Macaroni Grill, Zoe's Kitchen Genghis Grill, and Out Back. There is also Bubba's 33, Nicha's Mexican (local chain) Texas Road house, and Sea Island (local SA seafood chain) . You also have Bangkok Cusine and in Universal City is Four Kings which has soups, sandwiches, etc.Plus they opened a bakery next door.

Also if you drive out in the 1518/1604 area towards St.Hedwig and Lone Oak there's Home of Da Smoke (BBQ) Aurora's Cafe and Texas pride BBQ.They do a fish fry and Live Music on Fridays. Harmon's sometimes also has live music.

What type of food are you interested in? We live in Cibolo and we always look for something that is kid friendly. We prefer local and not national franchises:

BBQ, we like Harmon's in Cibolo but will make a trip to The Big Bib in Alamo Heights.
Tex-Mex, we like Garcia's in Schertz and also Chuy's across from the Forum.
Italian, Catalano's in Cibolo.
Pizza, Big Papa's in Schertz.
Thai/Asian we like Siam Cuisine and Thai Chef in Schertz.
Soul food, we like BG's in Schertz.
Greek/Meditteranena, we like Papouli's at the Forum

I like to use the app Zomato to guide me a little.

Default Pizza Place in Schertz

Please try Fox's Pizza place in Schertz (off FM 3009). My Realtor introduced me to that place. It's great and has become my go to place now.
