SAWS has a lot of contingency plans and must keep up with demand for watery stuff. The demand is constantly growing. This is what happens. Every day. The city is evolving.
A desalination plant is in plans for the future. Someday it will have to happen if the City continues to experience growth as was written earlier at a post -exponentially at its' boundaries.. This sort of thing happens eventually and it doesn't matter- Who will be in in the Saddle at the Top. Out of necessity.
We, the City, have been bursting out at the seams for a long time, metaphorically speaking of course. What Julian accomplished here is far more beneficial for the future of the city. Positive growth is a great thing. No scrimping for S.A. Don't be chincey in matters of the future, for the economy of the City. Like a long term investment, there will be a return in dividends for the kids. Our kids. Grand kids.
People in the U.S. need to gripe about civil matters and they should. This is as it should be, everywhere.
The above is exactly why the councilman was plucked out San Antonio by Obama. This is things as they should be.
Griping over the police matter - well, the police union won out over the whiners and got much deserved raises a plenty. Good for San Antonio. Great for the Police Union. It is terrific for the city.
Money badly spent? Nah. Take good care of those who care and sacrifice much sometimes for the citizens.
Exactly like the Firefighter who died recently. Great Tragedy looms for some of us who have gone on toward their great reward.

The Entertainment industry always, shrills that the latest Box office revenues are always, "The biggest in History... ever year" for the latest movie. However this happens simply because ticket prices are constantly being inflated, not because the latest blockbuster is the biggest or best movie ever made. Instead of paying a buck for a movie ticket one pays eight bucks now. All Talk.
The dollars don't correlate for two reasons, firstly San Antonio is now bigger than it ever has been.
Tiny Inflated dollars , adjusted for inflation, get put into perspective and then shrink. The freeway system here was the biggest improvement ever, ever. Here.
Hemisfair was the igniting spark which caused the transformation of the downtown area and made this City into what it is today for any number of reasons.
It surely wasn't street and sidewalk improvements. Like the demand on SAWS- This sidewalk stuff is preventative Maintenance. It has to be done. Eventually.
The slow razing of the Barrio neighborhoods of downtown's immediate westside after the turn of the twentieth century... those improvements were unbelievable, and was also a turning point. Many, many of these houses were hovels, the pictures of which can be drawn up on a computer from the Library of Congress website under- The living conditions of West San Antonio, tx during the Great Depression. It is said that these Westside City areas constituted the only third world living conditions ever to have existed in the United States.
Look at us now. Oh, that I have lived to see this.

Streets and sidewalks are being repaired at a pace I haven't seen in some very underserved areas.

Can we cast a vote of "No Confidence" for both?

All politicians are crooked to some extent. Some just hide it better than others.
Politics are a joke these days.

Maybe on the council or commissioner's court, but I don't see him gaining a foothold in a city-wide or county-wide race. Not with those guerrilla tactics and that fragmented message.

Seems to me that's exactly where we are headed.

Default Great Post,

Small potatoes. One way or the other.
The money from our Riverwalk should however go to a company located here. It will just generate more revenue for the City. They know this, of course they know it- but the political return will probably be far less. Are they unanswerable to the public?
Where does Medina stand on this contract? Ironically he may be the most honest candidate for, office.
