Y'know, when I finally made it to the local outpost of Panera Bread 10 days ago, I have to say I was disappointed. I've had better sandwiches lately at Which Wich, The Earl of Sandwich and Jimmy Johns. Granted none of those places have the selection of pastries and coffee that Panera has. But considering that sandwiches are the core of Panera's menu, I expected to be bowled over.

I think I will look forward more to the arrival in San Antonio of Atlanta Bread Company than the expansion of Panera.

Back to a subject that's closer to the OP's topic. I've noticed that Checker's fries are available in the frozen foods section of local grocery stores. I'm not a big fan of frozen fries, but have to admit that these were above average.

spamatdan will become famous soon enoughspamatdan will become famous soon enough
and what about Freddy's? I love that place!

There is a new one going in on 1604 and something...down by the new Academy that just opened.

Its amazing to me the amount of $$$ that is being pumped into the economy with all of these huge construction projects.

I know this was discussed in another thread or two, but more fast food is going to be coming with the two 281 developments in the Stone Oak area.

I spend most of my time shopping and dining along the 281 corridor.

When these two projects are complete, I may not have to go any further south then Evans! LOL

jokerprince is on a distinguished road
That is true....San Antonio is in a MAJOR growth phase right now. Freddy's is pretty good I heard, aren't they close to Steak N Shake? Where Stake N Shake does Shakes and Freddy's does frozen custard??? I know that they are also going to be going on 151 & Patranco as well on South West Militarry!
Checkers is Rally's! They are known as Rally's up North and Checkers down south, however it is the same operated company offering the same menu!
And YES the fries @ Checkers is to die for! They do sell them in thr frozen section @ Walmart, but when I bought the bag it didn't do the real fries any justice.
Also regarding Crystals, I think it might of been the franchisee that lead it down hill....You could also blame it on the location but when they first opned up there were lines out the door! I also agree the food is not that great, White Castle do have them beat!
The person that was talking about the Rally's being here in San Antonio, do you remember when was the last time you have seen them arround? How long were they going on for? We just can't understand why they shut down??? Great tasting food with a GREATER price margin? Please any info on Rally's would help me and our partners!
