Default 2008 Appraisals

What is everybody expecting for their 2008 appraisals?

I have a condo in the Thousand Oaks & Henderson Pass area and the appraisal has increased a little over 30% in the past 5 years. I suspect the appraisal will continue to increase at about 6% this year.

What do you predict? Increase? decrease?

I'm predicting no increase, no decrease. Or a very slight one, either way.

We owned a house in the same area for 8 years (1993-2001), and it NEVER increased...when we sold it, we got back just about what we had paid for it. Now, 7 years later, I notice the appraisals (and presumably the values) have climbed every year...I think that area as a whole became more valuable as they filled in all of the empty spaces. Throw in easy access to 35 and 281, too.

I think you're pretty close. I say 5% average increase for houses that have a Homestead Exemption. Also, I came across this site with tips & tricks for appealing your property taxes in Bexar County:

Bexar County Appraisal District property tax Appaisal District Bexar County

I own a house in the same area (1992-present), we paid 66K, its now appraised about 120K. A house across street sold in one month recently, asking price 134k! wow. we refinanced 15 yr note a few years ago and only owe about 46K. I think its a great area-actually we are closer to Thousand Oaks and Jones Maltsberger.
